    Canned smoked oysters

The benefits of oysters was too much for me to resist so I bought a few tins of Bumblebee canned smoked oysters, packed in cottonseed oil. First off, I was wary, I love oysters and pretty much all seafood but canned had me a little concerned. Honestly, I loved em, gobbled down the tin in about a minute. I kinda wanna try them chopped up and blended with maybe cream cheese and sriracha for spicy savory spread, but thats a different thread entirely.

My question is about the calories...their listed as 120 calories per serving, 7g fat, 6g carbs, 10g protein, 2 servings per tin. My concern relates to the calories from the oil in the tin...is the nutriotional information given most likely assuming you consumed the entire contents of the tin, or that you drained it but obviously some oil is still being consumed? It seems like it would be the latter, given that 14g of fat for the whole tin doesn't seem like that much, considering that its full of oil, but I'm not sure.

The serving information doesn't say drained or not either.

It probably is factoring in the oil, Just like if you get a tin of tuna in water vs oil the calories in them will be different even tho they are the same food. Just packed different!

Hmm so I gotta figure out how to count the calories from it minus all the oil I don't consume....I'll probably just leave the usual tablespoon of EVOO out of my totals

Id just count it as what the label says and dont beat your self up trying to figure out the calories that got drained. Or just do what you said about counting the EVOO. If you do how ever have a Shop and Stop by you (and you should since your 1 in NJ and 2 in 732) take a look there, I have found them a few times in just water. Still really good, I just use some Mrs Dash on them and eat =P

Yeahhh I'm down at school in Orlando though, just Publix and Wal-mart 'round here. I'll browse around for a brand packed in water though. I was suprised how good they were though, I bought two tins today and I'm itching to just chow through another one lol. I remember hearing that the high levels of zinc in oysters can attribute to better sleep?
