Bad Compliments
Does anyone else get annoyed by bad compliments? I have lost 42 lbs since Jan whiich I know is good. But I hate when people say thinks like "you are skinny" which is not my goal, I am adding muscle or "your wasting away to nothing" or "when are you going to stop". I have a good 15-20 lbs to go and it really annoys me when people say **** like that. Anyone else feel this way?

Keep your mind focused on your goal and disregard the naysayyers. In every situation there will be someone that will not agree. Although they do not agree, they may not be aware of the goals you have set.
Simple solution = stick to your goals and forget what they say. You know what you want and need.
16 week cut: Start 165lbs 20%. Target 145lbs 10%
1/17/2011 = 165 ~20%
1/24/2011 = 163.5
1/31/2011 = 162.9
2/7/2011 = 162.8
2/14/2011 = 159.7
2/21/2011 = 160.7
2/28/2011 = 160.1
3/7/2011 = 159.1
3/14/2011 = 158.1
3/21/2011 = 157.3
3/28/2011 = 155.5
4/4/2011 = 153.9
4/11/2011= 154.5
4/18/2011
4/25/2011
5/2/2011

Yeah, you have to ignore what they say. People generally mean well, but don't necessarily understand how their words can come off negatively. I've also noticed that many people (not all) say it out of a small sense of jealousy, since they may not have the same discipline or motivation to lose weight, workout, etc.
Good luck with your further weight loss.

Work. Learn. Win.
Just wait until next summer. Watch their face when you take of your shirt at the beach and show your Greek God like body.
Iron, sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.

"why do you workout, you're skinny"
uhh.. I'm not working out to lose fat, I'm working out to gain muscle! it's so annoying when people tell me I don't need to workout due to the fact that I'm thin lol

Thanks for the posts guys. I agree that many of them are out of jealousy. Its hard for people to understand the desire and motivation I guess. I get a lady at work who always comments about how nasty my protien shakes look. I want to say well go enjoy your donut! Just gonna keep fighting the good fight!

the fact that they are acknowledging a change means you are working towards your goal. Most people don't even acknowledge when someone is clearly bettering them self as a person

This is a good point. Just better ways to say things I guess.

bro most ppl dont know **** about building a nice physic. even the ones who work out from time to time
one of my friends was telling me how he cant see any progress in me. even though both photos and scale showed i was on track, i was kind of worried cuz he works out himself. i thought maybe he is right...until he started to talk about how shaving body hair can increase muscle growth...

Wow. Sometimes its harder to see it in people you see regularly. I just saw a lady at work who I see frequently. Prob once a week or so and she asked today if I'd lost weight (have been since jan). But that's how she asked then said I noticed you look thinner. I appreciated the way she said it. Came across positively. As to what your boy said about shaving. Perhaps he meant shaving will display muscle better? If not I hope you punched him in face.
