    Is competitive paintball still popular?

Now that I have the money I'm thinking about getting back into it but this time going for the pro's... the question is though do people still actually compete in it?

I have no idea, but women still are:

"The brain does much more than just recollect. It inter-compares, it synthesizes, it analyzes -- it generates abstractions.

The simplest thought like the concept of the number one, has an elaborate logical underpinning. The brain has its own language for testing the structure and consistency of the world." - Carl Sagan

competitive paintball is still around, but paintball as a whole has died biiig time. Fields used to be packed here in socal w/ ppl playing, whether it be rec, airball, etc. Nowadays the parking lots only get like half to 1/4 full and theres alot less ppl to play. Alot of the old gun companies went outta business (WGP, smartparts, ICD, etc.) but dye and bob long are the major guns companies now, dye being the biggest. You could still make it pro, as alot of people here in socal do play ranked in the WCPPL and up into the semi pro/pro ranks, but the sport itself has died alot mostly do to the cost of playing and the economy and how alot of fields went outta business/less ppl to play with.

I did the same thing about a year ago. Had the money to play, had a team that me and few other guys put together, played caljam/wcppl/huntington beach/etc but I got out after about 9 months of playing because of the price and how reptitive everything seemed. With the introduction of xball a few years back, the sport has gotten even faster and more intense on the tourney scene. 7 man is just about dead. I dunno what else you're asking, but theres still a possibility to go up in the ranks of competitive paintball, but the sport itself took a dump when the economy died.
