    ive read that it works the lower part of the pecs, if you lean foward when doing them.

    Wide?

    Do you guys think it is essential to have a wide grip to activate the chest on weighted dips? I use a generally shoulder width grip and a slight lean forward with my elbows slighly out.

    I guess put another way, what is the best way to maximize both chest and tricep work in the same movement.

    Wide grip=more chest + delts

    narrow grip=balanced activation of tri's and chest

    close grip=tricep dominant

    Considering anytime I use 90+lbs it literally feels like the mid part of my chest muscle is tearing, I would say it works the mid/upper part of MY chest. I had to stop doing heavy dips because I am afraid to injure myself
