I need a dark shoe but I have an aversion to most black clothing and accessories; I'm considering this CT Co-respondent shoe that is a conflation of oxblood and black.



Opinions on the versatility of this (relative to all black)?

I'm specifically looking at you tweedbrah.

It will look silly. Shoes should be one color throughout unless they are spectators or saddle shoes and those have no place when wearing business attire.

IMO go for an all burgundy shoe they are more versatile if you do not wear a suit regularly

I like those though, would like to see them in other lighting but if you like them I say go for it.

You can go with oxblood/burgundy in almost all situations, barring an interview with a very conservative firm.

Any recommendations on low-rise well cut dress pants? (talking wool here). Tried on all of Macy's offerings (sizing up 32-33) just to get an idea, did not fit at all. I'm a manlet short in the torso, 31" waist and 24" quads, needless to say these things look comical on me unless I find the right cut.

Received a pair of Express "Producer Pants", horrendous polyester blend, that fit AWESOME (after sizing up to a 33 lulz). Just refuse to buy anything from them since it's all poorly made garbage (not to mention my dislike of synthetic clothes).

the tailor is your friend find some that fit length wise and your legs then have them taken up some in the waist or inseem

Go to John Allan's off Madison Avenue for your haircuts, I went there tonight for my haircut and it was a insane experience. I normally went to some upscale places in NJ and John Allan's at Saks 5th Avenue, but the atmosphere at the midtown location was unbelievable. $51 for a great haircut, free beer/vodka/etc, pool, and hot chicks giving you scalp massages.

Those are very nice. Over time they will darken up when you polish them and wear them.

Have you considered Allen-Edmonds? They are $250-$300 but are 270 degree welted and high quality made in the USA.

I'll follow the others and advise you pass on those shoes.

If you're not keen on black leather, of course brown is an option but I do have an idea you may not have considered - black suede shoes. Since suede is seen as 'casual' material for shoes, shoes & boots in black suede are not popular but if you're minded to do something different, worth investigating.

I sometimes wear an ocbd tucked into chinos and loafers for casual use, much less jeans and a polo. That girl would probably think I'm getting married lol.

The other day my grad school had interviews, I saw a few guys wearing a blazer, khakis, and boat shoes. Not to hate on our beloved sperrys, but for an interview? It saddens me that things like this are considered formal enough as wearing suits. If I were his interviewer, I would take marks away for that srs.
