Can i squat with a sprained wrist?

I think i might have sprained my wrist, and the first thing i thought of was having to miss workouts.

Can i still at least do heavy squats if i have a wrist guard on?

    Edit:
I went today and squatted high-bar and it wasn't too bad. Hit 300x3 today, woo!

Most of the weight should be supported by your shoulders and upper back. So you should be fine.

As opposed to wrapping your fingers around the bar you can wrap your whole hand around it, so your wrist is holding it in place rather than your palm. Hard to explain.

if you have a spotter to unrack and rack the weight for you and to make sure the bar doesn't slip with your limited grip then sure i don't see why not. that's the only problems i can see you encountering whilst trying to squat wtih ur injury.

Don't listen to people until you tried squatting. When my wrist was sprained, I could barely type on the ****ing computer, I doubt I could even grip the bar ( Didn't work out then). Just try it out, if you can't then try to do alternative leg exercises.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm probably not going to attempt it because my wrist hurts like hell right now.

How long does a sprain keep you out of weightlifting?

if your gym has a cambered safety squat bar that would actually take all strain off your wrists. most gyms don't have them though.

You should only be using your wrists to guide the bar, you can squat with 2 broken wrists if you have a spotter.....

To those of you picking fun at the guy and being sarcastic about wrist involvement in squats, can I please see a video of you squatting without using your hands while balancing the bar on your upper back?
