Question Getting rid of the gym...for now.

    Hey guys,

Well I have good knowledge of lifting and nutrition. Lost 100 plus pounds last two years, but now things have to change. I recently got picked up by a police dept and begin my 6 mo academy Nov. 1st. We will do PT MWF but it is mostly cardio and endurance/stamina training. Weight training at the higher levels is pretty much up to us. The academy is very sophisticated but we do not get access to the weight room until about halfway through. I am done with my Gold's contract and cannot see spending $30 a month to go two days a week. I know push ups, sit ups are obviously good, but what else should I do? I am trying to avoid buying expensive weights because I am on a very tight budget. I will be keeping my protein levels high to maintain my mass through all of this cardio I will be doing. What are some suggestions to build some muscle or prevent muscle loss? THANKS!

    -Justin

Congrats on making it into the academy. Doing well should be your number 1 goal. You'll have lots to learn, memorize and do. Concentrate on becoming the best you can be. Give it 110%. Do the PT, outrun everyone else. Do extra when able to. Hit the weights when your able to but give the academy 110%. Don't worry about the weights to much. You can get back into it later. Spend your extra time on the range and reading.

You should at minimum be able to do body weight things, pullups (narrow, wide), pushups, lunges, etc...
