Bmontgomery87's EFX K-OTIC log
Hey guys,
I just got my K-OTIC in the mail about 30 minutes ago. I'll be logging my workouts for 6 weeks or so.
What I'm looking for in a preworkout product:
1. Clear headed energy without the overstimmed feel.
2. Something that has a tolerable taste
3. Something that won't send me rushing for the toilet
Current Goals:
1. I'm "clean bulking" and taking my time but my goal is to add some LBM and gain strength.
2. Trying to add 10-15 pounds to my bench within the next couple months. Should be fairly reasonable since I've only been lifting for 6-8 months.
I've been doing a full body workout similar to the HST program but I'm switching to a split to fit my schedule better.
The next week or two is getting kinda busy because soccer season is ending, and we're getting ready for playoffs. So my workout routine may be a little off when I've got 3 games a week.
Back/Bis
legs/abs/obliques
chest/tris
trying to squeeze that in twice every week, then soccer games on Sunday.
I just finished up a BSN stack of cell mass and NO xplode. I'm a fan of xplode except for the fact that I end up in the bathroom within 30 minutes of taking it.
Current supps:
1. Generic Multi
2. whey protein blend (kroger brand)
3. fish oils
Today is my cardio day, so I'll start taking my K-OTIC tomorrow and logging my results.
I'm very excited to try a new product and see what EFX has to offer.

Workout 1
I got my package this morning, and was planning on doing cardio today, but out of excitement I decided I'd skip the cardio session and do my back/biceps workout today instead.
Mixability: 9/10 The product mixed pretty well. Had a little powder floating around but was smooth for the most part.
Taste: 5.5/10 I'm not a fan of the taste. It was a pretty mild fruit punch flavor and I could taste/smell the ingredients more than I could fruit punch. However I'm not concerned with having something that tastes like gatorade, as long as the product is drinkable and works.
Energy: 9/10 I felt a good amount of energy upon entering the gym. I'm sensitive to stims sometimes so I was a little worried about something with 300 mg of caffeine. And I've never taken anything with 1,3 dimeth. With that said, i took a little less than a scoop on my way to the gym. ( I always ease into stuff on the first day if it's something I've never had.) I didn't get a jolt of intense energy, and I didn't get the jitters. I had a smooth increase in my energy and concentration that lasted till the end of my workout. I really like the release of this supplement as everything seems steady instead of sudden shock.
Pump/Strength:9/10 Back and biceps feel about like they usually do. But after doing a few sets of rows and pull ups i felt like my forearms were looking bigger than they ever have. As far as the strength increase, It's too early to tell but I did push my rows past my normal point and added 10 pounds to what i normally do my last heavy set with. It felt good adding some weight and a few extra reps to every excercise.
Stomach feeling: 9/10 I've recently used NO xplode and cell mass. Both of which sent me to the toilet more than a few times. I felt fine when I got to the gym and continue to feel okay now.
Overall I'd say I'm very optimistic about the next few weeks using this product. It's not the best tasting supplement but it seems like its gonna do its job and thats all I can ask for. And I do have to give AAEFX credit for not making something overly sugary tasting.
I'll be doing chest tomorrow with a friend so I'm looking to max out and see if I can add a few pounds to my current PR.

had a similar first workout ... if the taste was better (and yes, it was bad) I would have given my initial rating close to 9 or 10

hahah yeah its not the best tasting, but it wasn't so bad that i couldnt drink it. i think ill get used to it more as the trial goes on. im definately feeling good about my first workout, and super stoked to see what i can add to my bench over the next few weeks.
I might experiment with mixing this into a cup of fruit punch gatorade and see if that helps, plus I'll get a few extra calories to help me get thru longer workout sessions.

Just wanted to update. I still haven't had any ill effects from the preworkout.
As I stated earlier, with no xplode I had to use the restroom more frequently. I also had some pretty nasty gas that could clear the room.
None of those side effects from K-OTIC. I really can't wait to hit the gym tomorrow and see how it goes.

Day 2
Today was my chest/tri day.
Downed most of my drink on the way to the gym. And sipped on a little during my first couple sets. Gotta say the taste still hasn't grown on me.
Focus was amazing today. I felt really dialed in on my lifts and felt what muscles were doing the work.
Energy was thru the roof. This was one of my longer workouts.
Strength was great today too.
So my original plan was to meet up with a friend to try maxing out bench today, he couldn't get off of work in time. I decided to go about my normal routine.
Did a typical bench workout.
Did my close grip bench for 2 sets.
Worked on my abs/obliques. ( I was full of energy so I really punished my core today)
Did a few sets of tri pushdowns.
After my workout was pretty much over I heard from my friend and he said he was on the way. I figured I'd hang out and spot him. So I hopped on the elliptical and did some interval training for about 15 minutes.
He showed up right at the end of my cardio so we went over to do bench.
I decided I'd max out too because I still felt pretty good. Ended up maxing out at 170. My previous max was 165 two weeks ago. But I felt pretty accomplished because I managed to do this AFTER a pretty intense workout and a good run.
I'm really enjoying this product so far and I can't wait to see what other improvements I make. I feel like each workout i'm getting my focus a little more dialed in and I'm leaving the gym with a smile on my face, feeling accomplished.

Day 3
Today was leg day.
Took my dose and headed to the gym. I was a little slow getting ready so by the time I got changed and walked to the squat rack I was beyond ready to go.
Nothing amazing today. I had a good workout with plenty of energy.
4 sets of squats.
3 sets on hamstring machine
5 sets of leg extensions (quads)
2 sets of a lower back machine (works erector spinae or something.....right around the small of the back)
Finished with a short low intensity 1/2 mile on the elliptical.
I still had a ton of energy left and could've kept going but didn't wanna push too hard on legs because I was planning on playing soccer tonight. I'm home now and still pretty amped up from the caffeine.
Tried mixing with gatorade today, didn't help the taste. I'm still happy with the product and so far its meeting my requirements. I've got plenty of focus, I can tolerate drinking it, and I'm not overstimmed from the caffeine.
Tomorrow I'm gonna do bis/back and i'm pretty excited for that workout because i had a nice pump last time.

Day 4
Was pretty sore this morning from the squats and stuff i did yesterday. Had to help my dad cut wood, and my glutes were on fire when i was carrying wood up the hill.
Had some lunch then headed to the gym.
I had a decent back workout today. I felt strong on my pull ups and my rows. I ended up feeling a little overstimmed about midway through my workout tho.
I usually jog/run on the elliptical for about 10 minutes after my workouts to burn up some of that extra energy, but I got about 8 minutes into it and started feeling tight in my chest and it felt "fluttery".
Not sure if it was just my muscles acting up or if it was borderline palpitations from the 1,3 dimeth. I'm going to be cutting back a little on my dosage on my next workout and hope that the issue goes away, because I would like to continue using K-OTIC.
Home now and I'm feeling better, but I'm still a little jittery, probably just concern over what happened earlier. Hoping for better results on monday when i do chest/tris

I will be honest and say that I do not like the taste of KOtic at all! I try to drink it as fast as possible, lol! But...the effects make it all worth it! Plus...I know EFX did not want to taint it with too much artificial flavorings.

I totally understand not wanting to add a lot of flavorings and sugar. I've been trying to concentrate the drink a lot and chug it so I don't have to taste it much.
Personally in my drink choice, i'd rather consume an extra 30-50 calories of sugar and flavor to be able to enjoy my preworkout.
Nonetheless, its a great product and i enjoy the energy i get during my workouts.

Pretty bummed out today. I took a bad slide tackle during my match last night, and i've got a golf ball on the size of my foot pretty much.
I'll still be able to do upper body and a few lower body things, but I'm definately upset that I won't be able to do squats for a while. This is also really gonna take away from my cardio, and pretty much craps on my plans to run a 5k Thanksgiving morning.
Looks like I'm really gonna be focusing on my chest/back/arms for the next month or two.

Workout 5
Chest/tris/abs
Went to the gym today with the foot injury. Definately felt weaker because of the pain pills i took last night and during the day. Went ahead and forced myself through a workout. I got decent energy but just wasn't feeling the strength today.
Nothing spectacular to report. It was an average day in the gym, but I don't know if I wouldve made it through my schedule had i not taken my pre-workout.

Bicep/Back/quads (yesterday)
Went in to work on my biceps/back. Decided to throw in quads because I'm not going to be able to do squats/leg presses for a week or so. Not really any point in having a full leg day right now.
Still feeling a little week during this workout. I took less medicine today so I had a little more energy and focus. Felt strong during pull ups and rows. Didn't feel to well on legs because everything seemed like it was still putting a little pressure on my foot/ankle.
I left the gym with a pretty good pump and was satisfied with my workout.
This week I'm gonna try mixing my drink with a few different things. Gonna try crystal light, a few gatorade flavors and who knows what else.
Feeling a lot better today and not taking any prescription meds, so I'm hoping I have a good chest day this afternoon.

Day Off
Found out last minute thay I needed to babysit my gf's daughter tonight. It worked out well cause I could use a day off. Trying to avoid any shoulder problems coming back.
My ankle felt better today. Hoping to be able to get back to cardio next week so I can keep the fat off. Plus I just feel so lazy when I'm not running a little every day.
Hitting chest and tris tomorrow.

Chest day
Hit the gym today feeling pretty good.
Ankle is feeling much better.
Hit up bench and CG bench.
Did some tri pushdowns, oblique twists.
Then i did a few flys and ended with a decline bench.
My chest pump was great after this session.
Still happy with the energy I'm getting from my preworkout drink. I find myself thinking about hitting the gym throughout the day. By lunch time I'm pumped up to mix up my drink and leave work.
Glad that I'm still staying enthusiastic about my workouts in spite of my injury.

Had a great back day yesterday. Nice smooth energy all the way thru the workout.
Got up this morning to do cardio and some abs/obliques. I ended up hitting chest too. Did flat BB bench and some incline. Worked out with lighter weight and just went for intensity because I'm still having some ankle soreness and knew I couldn't do much running. I made it about a half mile today, didn't wanna push my ankle until its better.
Tomorrow I'm gonna take the day off and take my girlfriends daughter trick or treating. And i'll be back in the gym monday, hopefully back to 100 percent.
Still loving my energy. Haven't developed a tolerance or anything.
Sorry the logs have been short and to the point lately. I'm just not having any amazing progress to report, i guess because of my injury. Planning on hitting it hard Monday and trying to add a few pounds to all my lifts.

Thats good to hear. I was using NO Xplode and I noticed after a bit I was adding a little extra to my bottle each time to get the same effect.

Went out for my 23rd birthday last night. So needless to say I was feeling rough this morning. Today was my off day for lifting anyways, but I drug my ass to the gym and did cardio for about 45 minutes. It's amazing how much better I feel after that. My ankle is feeling a lot better so I think I'll be able to play in the playoff game next sunday.
Definately ready to hit the gym hard tomorrow. I have a friend coming out to lift with me so I may try to max my bench.

Had a great workout today.
Switched back to an upper/lower split.
Started off with a 5 minute cardio warmup.
2 sets of Flat BB bench.
One set of CGBP.
pullups.
3 sets of rows
two sets of decline bench machine
2 sets lat pulldowns
1 set db hammer curls
finished up with a 2 mile jog. foot is feeling a little better today. my two mile time is getting lower. hoping to get back to where i wanna be soon. Trying to do a 5k on thanksgiving so I'm staying positive and hoping to be back to 100 percent within a couple weeks.
I felt great today all thru my workout and amazing after it. I'm enjoying this smooth energy with no overstimmed feeling. My weight has stayed the same since I started taking this. I'm not really trying to bulk heavy right now because I don't want to put on too much fat. I think I'll feel better once I can do more cardio and keep the fat off.
Tomorrow I'm gonna get to the gym and work on some leg stuff. Squats, hamstring machine, glute machine, and some quad curl machine. I don't work my calves directly cause I usually end up cramping and can't walk. Really going to push myself and hope I don't end up puking. I always feel a little sick on leg days.
I'm 23 tomorrow so I'd really like to have a great workout. Then I'll be taking it easy on the couch and eating some good food.

My workouts are feeling better than ever lately.
Yesterday I had a great workout.
5 min cardio warmup
4 sets of squats
oblique twists
leg extensions (quads) *usually by this point I'm feeling nauseaus and ready to quit.
ab machine * had tons of energy today for my ab workout
hamstring leg curls
3 sets of leg presses
Finished with a 10 minute run. I always use the elliptical because i have bad shin splints from soccer and my knees don't need to extra stress. Anyway, my previous fastest elliptical mile was 6:11......I finished up my first mile at 5:45. It feels awesome. My ankle/foot seems to have the strength back, I just don't have much mobility in my toes still. Great finish to a workout on my birthday tho, beating my last PR by over 20 seconds. I had never realy tried to push myself that hard before so it feels good.
My diet yesterday left me short on my protein and a little high on fat. My coworkers got me ice cream cake, after the gym i walk into my home and theres another ice cream cake on the table from my girlfriend. So my diet had a few flaws in it.
Ate a really clean dinner, just veggies and chicken stir fried. Then headed out to the Irish Pub for a couple pints. Then finally got to see Jackass 3d.
All in all it was a great birthday. I slacked on my diet a bit but I'm up at 830 and going to run off the extra calories

Upper Body
Woke up around 8 and went to the gym. Spent about 40 minutes on the elliptical. Put in a lot more distance than I ever have in that time. Cooled down for a few then did a little more cardio and went home for a snack.
After lunch I went back to the gym for upper body. I can feel my bench getting a lot easier. Weights that I was struggling to get 6-8 reps with, I'm now putting up 10 reps without nearly as much effort. I've definately seen some strength changes in the last 2-3 weeks. I'm able to do pullups much easier than I was a month ago. Today I just did a warmup set and then 2 sets of most excercises, kinda hopped around a lot.
Flat Bench
CGBP
Pull Ups
Lat pulldowns
Decline Bench (did an extra set on the machine with just the right side. I've noticed that my left pec is progressing faster than my right)
Shoulder Press
Tricep Pushdowns
I've noticed that I've put on some fat lately. Haven't really been trying to bulk too quickly, I'd say its just that I haven't stayed on top of my diet the way i should, and my cardio has been reduced.
I went from playing soccer in 90 degree weather 4 days a week to hitting the gym then being stuck at home cause of my foot.
Now that I'm feeling better I plan on putting in a lot more time on ellipticals and stationary bikes.
Really glad that I started using this product. The energy I get from it has allowed me to add 5-10 pounds to the majority of my lifts. And just being on something new gave me the drive to push out one or two more reps all the time. I'm constantly trying to beat myself or push myself just a little closer to my limits.
Aside from the taste which I'm sure could be worked on, I'm thinking this product will be an 8 or 9 out of 10. I had the brief issue with the chest feeling tight, but I'm thinking it was just a sore pec or deltoid since I haven't had any issues lately with it.
Great job with this product AAEFX. Can't wait to try something else you guys have put out.
