How do u deal with "The Lifestyle"??
Hey boys&girls.
Last night I went to a mates and they were all drinking, getting blind, you know how it is...where as I was driving..when i explain to them i wasnt drinking its like impossible for them to fatham..they cannot possibly believe someone 22 years old doesnt want to drink..Its frustrating that we live in a society where people cannot accept some guyz dont like drinking..
Why would i wanna eat like a slave 6 days a week and then instead of enjoying something i really want (like a sundae or kebab) for a cheat meal..get off my head and sacrifice all ive worked so hard for?
I srs do not like drinking..I will have a couple of low carb beers or corona's every 2 months..But i prefer driving..
So here is a small list of why i dont like drinking:
-no hangovers
-save moneyz
-can hold a decent convo
-can be aware of ur surroundings and ready for drunk kunts to pik a fight
-Can legally drive anywhere u want at any time..without being worried about 'being over the limit'
-dont waste away dem gainz
-u can eat 6 meals the next day and not cheat coz all ur mates are going to macca's and u have no other choice..
So the real question is...How do you deal with society and their infatuation with being drunk and thinking ur some sort of kunt from outta space for not drinking?
In addition what about wen u are out at a restuarant and order a salad, or a diet coke or anything that is low carb...it just seems difficult to be strict when people around u are so intollerant..

A good friend of mine..actually a lifting buddy was always teasing me about "not being any fun" and not "enjoying life" i.e. NOT PARTYING every weekend and even some week days..I cant see going to the gym working so hard to waste all of my hard work. And like you I really just dont care to drink, even if I didnt workout(which would never happen) I still wouldnt drink....
well long story short this "friend" got a DUI, ruined his life, had to pay out the ass fines, jail time, is in the army so he got in some trouble with his unit, etc. etc.
I never said a word to him about it because now he doesnt have the option to workout because he lost his license..Im in the gym everyday LOVING my life and DRIVING!!!
Eventually the partying will catch up with them its just a matter of time

Unconquerable
I'm the same. I drink regularly, but one or maybe two beers a night and that's it. I've got no interest in getting pissed.
I want to turn my body into something more than it is and I beat the crap out of it on a daily basis trying to mould it into that, I can't then turn around and abuse it with something counterproductive to my goals.
I understand that some peoples' goals involve partying and then it makes sense, but it's not my goal.
People will find it hard to accept anything that isn't the social norm, but they don't often fight it very hard either. I just do my own thing and they'll either come to accept it or they wont.

Will become a Natural Pro
i never found a problem with it..before i got into this lifestyle...and did drink..i never liked it..i never liked the taste or what it did to me..so once i got serious about bodybuilding..not drinking didnt even take a second thought..cause i hated doing it to begin with...friends understand and dont pressure me about it...I LOVE driving so being the DD wherever we go isnt a problem for me\
as for restaurants and stuff...im perfectly fine ordering a diet coke and not eating if i dont want to..family and friends are cool with it..yeah ill get the occasional jokes every now and then..but really..who gives a fuk?
what it ultimately comes down to is how bad u want to live this lifestyle and how adaptive u can be to it..u can drink if u like to..just be smart about it and fit it into your diet..u can eat whatever u want at restaurants..again just fit into your diet...my dream is to be a natural pro bodybuilder and im willing to do whatever it takes..so the so called "sacrifices" that some make arent sacrifices to me at all...to me im just doing what i WANT to do

I feel you man. And I respect you. I live in Belgium and we've got quite the drinking culture here. Alcohol is legal at 16 and some of the best (and heaviest) beers are brewed here. That said, I've shared a fair bit of drunkeness in my younger years. I still tend to go out, and I still drink. I've had a few nights where I didn't drink at all, and had lots of fun aswell, but I guess I sometimes feel like downing a few pints..
To average it.. I'll go out to a party and drink more than a small amount (6+) pints during a night. I'll eat clean the rest of the week and don't touch alcohol the other days, or it'll have to be one or two pints here and there.
I hope this doesn't affect my gains that much, but tbh. I'm not sure if it does...
Also, I'm a student now, so I'm probably living my last 4-5 years without much worries except school, and who know if I'll still be able to party when I start working?

Followers and leaders
Brother..... you'll learn as life goes on there are two personality types..... followers and leaders....The followers do what they feel others think is cool...Leaders do what's in their best interests because they have the insight to know if they respect themselves in all areas of their life.... others will see that self respect as strength...Sounds like to me your a Leader and that's awesome......Respect.....Self
Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live the world they're been given than to explore the power they have to change it...Impossible is not a fact...It's an opinion...Impossible is not declaration...It's a dare...Impossible is potential...Impossible is temporary...Impossible is nothing...

agree self..
I get up at ridiculous hours of the night to train..i eat all my clean meals and rarely cheat just so i can get results..
And if others cant respect that than they can fk off coz i dont have room for those in my life..
Which is now why i have a select group of friends i really trust and choose to be with..
The others have sorta dwindled away since i can no longer provide them with benefit..i lol @ them for continuing to make self centered and self destructive decisions while i better myself..
Thanks for the motivation guys..

lol, dude I go out and get drunk once a week with mates and I've still made good gains. As long as you're careful what you eat (dont slam the fast food places after a night out), and try not to drink while you're still sore you'll be fine. Just stick to spirits. Your choice either way if you dont want to, but it wont to sht to your gains.
I think people think too much into this stuff..

You got the right idea.
I myself have NEVER been one to follow the crowd (drinking, drugging, etc etc..NEVER needed it and don't need it now!). Do I have the occasional drink? SURE! But to go out and get drunk? Hell no..never saw the sense in it.
I kKNEW what I wanted (build up some serious muscle!) and always made it a point to choose the path that would get me there, and chose the people to be by my side that understood me and supported me...period! I don't take the word "friend" and apply it to everyone. If you have a "friend" that simply does not understand what YOU want to do or accomplish, and dare they make fun of or take it lightly, then for me it is simple......they become history. They may be good people otherwise, it is just that they are not good for you!
And now that I am older I am REALLY hard line about these things....my way or the highway!
And it feels SOO good!

i drink every weekend...i have to i feel like its better to have a good time on the weekends and relieve stress than to stay stressed out. i think the stress would cause more damage to gains than 1-2 days a week drinking. just my $.2
Repping will be appreciated...

I gave up drinking about 8 months ago, as a result I hardly ever go out anymore. Nothing that's worth having comes without sacrifice I guess.

I didn't quit because I thought it was hindering my gains I did it for other reasons, but I have noticed I've been wayy more dedicated and motivated since I've stopped.

id have to disagree, agressive..
There have been many studies to prove the detremental effects of alcohol on gains..
Maybe you have superior genetics or something because not many ppl can get away with that..however let me ask you this:
initially to get into shape with low bodyfat did u give up the alcohol for a period of time?

I'd agree with this I am always been told by mates im a pussy for not drinking every thursday friday saturday. I stick to only drinking every 2nd week on a saturday and it works for me when im out drinking i still get water in between each drink and don't follow my freinds off to eat maccas or BK. Don't really care about what people say or make jokes about my not drinking much anymore..All the hardwork and dedication pays off over the summer time

I use my lack of drinking to my advantage. It's a good conversation starter with women since they always wonder why I am not drinking. Nobody gives me trouble for not drinking, but if they did I would just stick with the "I'm not much of a drinker". Or I just say "I really need to be up early so I can [enter excuse here] so I won't be drinking tonight". After awhile your friends expect you to NOT drink and they won't say anything about it.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.
Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

I am 23 and in the army and I don't drink. People think I am the weirdest person in the world because of it. I used to drink every now and then and I decided to never drink again when I was 18. I never really liked it and I don't like not having situational awareness. I don't really like hanging out with people when they go out drinking either. This has limited the number of friends I have but so be it. It seems like whenever I go out somewhere with people that are drinking heavily I get into a fight with some drunk idiot and something bad happens.

A good friend of mine is one of the most dedicated people I had met in a long time. When he turned to weight training, he easily surpassed me in results and size. With a 30lb LBM difference between the two of us at a mere 1" height difference, I always admired what he had accomplished. The rest of the group, did not however. He would sit there, sipping on water, sneak in a protein bar to the bar, etc... But, I am reminded of one time in particular that motivated me to be just as dedicated.
We all took a trip to the lake and he for once tagged along. I had a decent body in comparison to the rest of the group, but now match for my friends 195 @ 8%. When we got to the lake, we met up with a group of girls we had just barely met; he had not at this point. We were invited into the water. As everyone was taking off their shirts, he quietly says to us...
"Gentlemen, I just want to take a moment to apologize for what is about to happen."

I respect what you're all saying since I myself have cut down on drinking since I get seriously into lifting. It is annoying when people question you about not drinking however, you guys are making it seem like alcohol is some sort of magic poison that automatically destroys all of your gains. I know plenty of people who are huge but still go out drinking on a regular basis. I know it is not good for your body but I don't see any problem with going out and getting drunk with your friends every once in a while. It won't impact you that much.

I see drinking as a a waste of my time and causes nothing but problems in society. I rather use that money on supps going in vacation, dates, saving to buy a nicer car. I don't drink and love it.
