It's a true whole body movement. Back and Legs are primary muscle groups worked.
If there's any one skill that I've seen in champions- people who have really achieved their highest desires- it's an unbelievable level of persistence. They'll change their approach as necessary, but they won't abandon their ultimate vision.

It depends on which muscle groups you focus on while performing the lift. If you use your arms as merely hooks and focus on pushing your hips forward, like I do, then you'll mostly be using your lower back. If you focus on driving your feet into the ground, then you'll be hitting your legs harder. Others squeeze their lats, abs, and traps. It's such a compound movement that you could go many different routes with it.

^ Those. I use a high hip position, which emphasizes back over legs. I do my deads on back day.
You'll find people who do it on leg day, and some on back day. It is up to you, your personal goals, and your style of deadlift.-

I loled @ the ops sig containing two deadlift quotes and him not knowing much about them.
Bottom line (as mentioned already) is it depends on how you do them. I guess it depends on personal preferance/goals.
I prefer shins about 2" from bar when I'm standing straight up so when I bend over to grab the bar my shins only move about 2". Also I pull with high hips. Doing it this way really puts the focus on my back.

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

I always did them on back day, for two reasons. One, my hip stance put most of the effort on my back. More importantly, though, was the fact that I did squats on leg day. If you've got squats in your routine, I like to separate the other muscle builder for a day when I can put 100% into it. Tried both on the same day one time and intensity was a problem.

Big compound moves will boost your testosterone and increase overall body mass so even if you are trying to get a massive uper-body or get bigger biceps deadlifts will still help, a great deal. It's also the fact that you are stabilising the weight and holding on to it that will work your arms in their entirety. That said if you want bigger biceps I wouldn't focus on deadlifts but I wouldn't exclude them from your program, the same as I wouldn't exclude squats.

The testosterone boost from squat and deadlift is negligible. I bet watching porn without fapping raise your test level as much as squatting.
OP, DL works pretty much everything at different degree. Hypertrophy will be noticable in traps, forearm, spinal erectos, butt, hamstring.☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆
