Squats and deadlifts on the same day?

As title says, would it be likely if I did heavy squats and heavy deadlifts on the same day, I'd hurt myself? Or are they okay? Or should I get/make a program that varies them, as in, squats one day, DL other day, and so on, hope you get what I mean.

It's fine if you are a novice but for most people as the weight gets up there it's hard to keep the same intensity for both Squats and Deadlifts int he same workout.

    Acceptable? Yes. Ideal? No.

I would space them apart by a couple days, and add squats to your leg routine, dls to your back routine. The reason being, as one guy said, you'll have trouble maintaining the intensity during the workout. If you do them on separate days, you can begin your workout with each and put 100% into both of them. Considering they're the two biggest muscle builders, I'd like to know that my effort's not going out the window with decreased intensity and, of course, good form.

Hmmm, alright, I'll try to see then, the weight isn't really high atm, but I was just wondering.. seems like it MIGHT become problematic in the future.
