Say it costs $60,000 for 3-4 years for living on campus or where ever. Don't you think you're better off saving all that money by commuting from your home to university? Sure the experience might sound fun, but I don't think that much money should be worth it when you can just commute and experience it.

I moved 4 hours away for university so I could get away from my parents and be more independent. Don't regret a thing - I would be a much different person if I stayed home and went to a local university.
Also residence was like $6000 for first year and after that apartments can be even cheaper. Doesn't add up to $60 000 IMO.

I didn't have that much in loans but,
College is more than just an education. It's a life changing experience. For many people, myself included, college was the best 4 years of my life so far. It was the best damn time I've ever had. So many different experiences with friends, girls, school, etc that make it unforgettable. I can't imagine not have gone to college. I definitely wouldn't have spent 6 months overseas, I wouldn't have the life long friends, I wouldn't have the classic stories.. in general, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
I came home after college to persue a job offer, and see all these people who went to community college and went to the same bars / house parties for years.. I feel horrible for them, because their life was signficantly worse than mine, and that's dead serious.
Go to a fun college, get drunk, hook up with random girls, travel the world, network, do internships, skip classes to party, etc. I'm just saying, my college experience far is worth far more than the debt I accrued. You're not going to have the same experience living at home... I don't care what you say. Living in the dorms for a year, then in a house with some buds for the next couple of years on campus = success.
LOL @ people who say LOL @ "college experience" because they obviously had a ****tier time than I did in those same 4 years, guaranteed.

Not sure how much college tuition and costs have gone up, but in the late 90s, at some of the best Unis in the country cost about $10-12k per year for everything.

Not if your in it just to party. You can easily have the college experience by finding a job near a college where your best high school friend or friends are going, having money, a place to live not a dorm. Then when you grow up and are past the partying stage you still have time to work on your education at a much cheaper rate by choosing not to live on campus.

Why would you miss out on that by not going to college? You could easily live on or near a campus without actually being a student. You can easily mate with college girls by living in a college area.
Also, "dorm life" is for tards.
Imagine if you took that 60k and used it to pay college girls to have sex with you. You could get laid hundreds of times. You could shoot your own amateur porno's. Just saying.

No, I'm saying the program that allowed me to go overseas was just one aspect of college that I loved. I went to Europe, traveled all around and studied in Prague for a while.
And you talk about you can set up anything you do in college on your own.. well no, you can't. I can't even begin to explain to you why that's false. Of course, I could have traveled overseas without college, but I'm saying the program was just ONE aspect that was great. I've been back multiple times since.
Maybe my college was just extremely fun, but the memories and people I met will last with me forever.
Far more than just partying. The social aspect outside of partying is something memorable as well. And massive amounts of debt? Nah, I have debt, but the job I have I make enough that it isn't a problem and will be paid off in a couple years.
And I don't think you understand. My college, you only live on campus for a year. "On campus" after freshman years applies to the houses / apartments within walking distance to the school. I lived in my own house, which was dirt cheap, with roommates. That's far better than commuting to a school having to live with your parents. You don't follow lame rules since it's your own rental. But being able to walk to the gym, classes, shopping, bars, other houses, etc was awesome.Last edited by Krunk Fu; 08-23-2010 at 12:30 PM.

Well, I certainly second the advice to visit Prague (See this thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post524942913) but I don't think you need to be in college to do it. Airline tickets man. It's not that hard. If you can go through all the BS red tape to apply to college you can definitely set up your own vacation wherever you want.
Just think, you have could screwed Nessa Devil in the ass and had 20k left over.
