    Started freestyle last week and wow, love it WAY more than folkstyle. I've never been very fond of the ground game and I love that free is pretty much all about the standing game. Hope to compete in my first tournament in next two weekends.

    It is not more strength oriented...watch the world championships, some of the best guys look like **** muscular wise. Just got back from an injury(broken ankle) and started Freestyle and Greco at the college I'm going to next year. Getting the gut wrenches down pretty good, excited to get back into tournaments!

    EDIT: Just my opinion but freestyle is much more finesse than folkstyle except for gut wrenches I guess. Technique>everything else though

    damn we don't start off season freestyle till the middle of april when middle school track finish's. Gonna probably wrestle 160 by than. Plan on doing summer wrestling in the high 160's or 170 weight class than drop to 152 around september. I'll will then decided during next wrestling season to go down to 145 or stay at 152

    brb tore my labrum at first tournament ):

    brb no lifting,wrestling, or life ):
    2010- freshman year- wrestled junior high 138, 17-3 with 15 pins.. no varsity time ):
    2011 sophomore year- started varsity 152, qualified for district tournament (4th @ section)
    2012- junior year- starting varsity 160/170, goal is to make regionals

    Joined a good offseason club in NC the coach was a 4x state champ ncaa div 1 national champ and wrestled in the olympics, its a good thing i found it my coaches dont wanna do **** in the offseason

    what weight class should I wrestle at, my lifts and cardio are crap, but I only started 2 months ago. am at 17-20% percent bodyfat
    138 or 132. since you have a while before the season starts, id say 132. honestly if i were you i wouldnt cut weight and wrestle 152, but ive never cut weight (3 lbs at most, but thats not really cutting), but im also incredibly strong for my weight.

    Well it depends. This upcoming season will be my first year and my senior year. I weigh about 163(alittle chunkier than id like haha and I have to get to a thin 170:/ ) and I can do pull-ups with 115 on my waist. I'm the perfect example of strength not beating skill. Our 145, who is graduating and going to Drexel, can whoop my butt any day, but he isn't half as strong as me haha

    Haha well yeah if I can get my hands on someone it isn't good for them. If I get a craddle or a headlock its normally over, but I promise skill is in itself stronger than brute strength. I would much rather wrestle 160, it would give me more time to focus on my technique then having to make sure I'm eating enough and lifting enough. I'm a noob, but ask any of these guys, and I promise you they have seen monsters get pinned in seconds because they rely on power alone. (but I still love my strength)

    I kind 50 50 agree with you here, but when your in last period and both of ya'll are weezing out, only factor left is who conditioned the hardest to out do the other guy.

    Youre defintely right about that. Yea for wrestling I'd say cardio>weights for the most part. But every top of the line wrestler is going to be great at bOth.
