Do not pray for an easier life, instead pray to be a stronger man

I do not want to become stronger, faster, or better. I want to become the strongest, the fastest, and the best.

This thread makes me want to climb Everest.

So expensive though. I wonder what kind of training they do to prepare themselves.

    Agreed.

Also, I'd recommend "No Shortcuts to the Top," by Ed Viesturs. He writes a bit about trying to help climbers down, and how incredibly difficult it is.

How the **** are you going to cut a line and snort it on the side of a mountain with wind blowing at you like a muhfukka while your hands are shaking and freezing and you can't take your gloves off or take anything off that's covering your face because you'll get frostbite damn near instantly? lol.

I definitely plan on climbing Everest, I'll likely have to wait until I'm in my mid-30s for financial reasons and to ensure that I'm an experienced enough climber.

I'll probably start with Kilimanjaro, then Everest, not sure about K2 that would be awesome but the death statistics are way too intense.

    Fantastic book.

There is another book about the very same trip called "The Climb" written by the other guide.

Must read if you want both versions of the story.

It's near physically impossible. The air is so thin and you're so lacking oxygen that everything feels like 4 times as heavy.

    130lb man x 4 = 520lbs + additional clothing, gear, etc.

But if you make it.... Imagine. You would be instantly labeled bamf by anyone who even knows. The prestige that comes with climbing Mt. Everest is incredible. I'd love to have that one my resume. Imagine the feeling that comes from climbing Everest, as you stand on the peak and look out at the world. I can't think of anything greater.

And I'm sure death is even less likely these days with better climbing gear and whatnot.

Either way, **** it. I can't even imagine how nervous you'd be waiting for the morning when you start your climb. I don't think I could sleep.

    Fantastic book!

never understood the allure to summit Mt. Everest. I guess its the great sense of accomplishment.

Isn't is easy to climb everest now? I'm pretty sure I heard of like a 12 year old doing it, and them having like tour groups going to the summit.

I wouldn't say it's easy. It's just been done enough where they have an optimized routine of how to do it. Doesn't make it any less dangerous or anything.

It's an easy climb as far as the actual climbing.

Not so easy because of the altitude.

It's really one of the stupidist things a human being could do.

People die every year. You really don't know if your body can handle it until you are up there.
