i know this is a bodybuilding forum, but i think all of you give the BEST advice!.. that being said... this is prob. a stupid question, but is there anyway to "de-bulk" hahaha. i think what i did was over work my shoulders and i feel like they are huge and totally out of proportion to the rest of my body. ESPECIALLY because i still have that gross arm fat underneath. any advice as to how i can make them look more lean than "bulky"?

You know there's been so much bs going on about the way advice is being given out. I've been doing this long enough where I can give advice based on simple stats and basic info...but some people around here seem to think it's not the right thing to do.
So from now on, unless I see pics I'm not giving any advice...
I'll just sit back and watch the fun...

"De-bulk," LOL! In for pics of this also, maybe you think it's worse than it really is, I don't know. But what I personally do if I think one part is way more advanced than other muscle groups and it may be problematic is kind of ease back on that and keep it at the same skill/weight level until everything else catches up. It's rarely a problem. If your shoulders are really as awesomely huge as you're making it out to be, I would not try to reverse that, but that's just me.

I understand in light of past threads the LOL factor here, but I take pity upon the OP so will try to enlighten her.
Generally when a female says "I have too much muscle, how do I get rid of this bulk", their problem is just too much fat. It is hard as heck for females to put on significant amounts of muscle, but easy as pie to put on fat. Many people have *way* more fat and *far* less muscle than they imagine, and once they cut down they see how little muscle mass they actually have to work with. The ladies here are asking for pics because 99% of the time the situation is just that, and there is *no* need to cut back on weight training, but a need to cut back on cals and lose the fat to "de-bulk".
I'm going to imagine that SOMEHOW, you really got some serious Dwight Howard shoulders going on or something.
Ok.
Perhaps, it's a muscular imbalance issue? Are you hitting your back deltoids and biceps hard too?
I've seen plenty of people who only work front shoulders and chest, and end up looking very imbalanced this way. Their shoulders may appear bigger, but in reality, it's just that the compensating muscles are MUCH smaller.
If I were you, I'd be trying to kill my rear deltoids, traps, biceps and triceps to create a more proportional look.

^^ This is really good advice.

Actually, as a woman who is "all shoulders/traps", I am facsinated to see this. Last year, at a Summit, Lou Schuler grabs me by the shoulders and made some smart ass comment about how huge my shoulders are. Personally, I luvs this about my body but I can see some women freaking out about it. There is some possibility that there is more going on here than excess fat. In for these pics...

If you have arm fat still, and your shoulders are bulging, I would imagine that this more of a bodyfat issue, and not a over-muscle issue. I say this because I actually had a problem with over-bulking on my shoulders. I wasn't doing rear delt at all, through 5 years of lifting. The problem, explained by the doc in simple terms, was that I built too much on the front of my shoulders, and not much on the back. It was causing my shoulders to be pulled out of the joint, causing alot of pain, and eventually tearing my shoulders.....
okay this is what i'm talkin about...that "bump" on top is so ugly/manly!! it's even worse from the front! i feel like my back looks so wide...i AM in the process of trying to lose more weight...i'm stuck at 118, trying to get down to 112. i'm thinking i should focus more on triceps because you can see the arm fat on the bottom...did i just answer my own question?? lol

(sorry for the bad lighting and hair mess)
You have KILLER Delts, what the heck is wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with your shoulders girl!
Those are how your shoulders SHOULD look!
How tall are you?
There is nothing with the way you look. You're back looks great, your arms yeah fine they could do with a little more muscle to them perhaps but they certainly don't look as bad as you make them out to be.

ROTFLMAO!!!! ^^^THIS^^^
I'd freak'n kill for those delts girl.
(Where is Dem btw?)
This is another one of those threads where you would potentially get different opinions and more empathy if you posted to Weight Watchers or perhaps a Marathoners board where the whole skinny looks thing is more appreciated. Here, we're gonna be all drooling over that sheet.
My advice is that you gain new friends (start hanging out with more bbers) and new perspective. I would srsly kill for those. BTW: Nailed it with my wait-n-see for this one. There really are some girls that have "largish" shoulders and society really isn't about that so much. You know 'cause it looks too manly and all.

Honestly, I think they look awesome!

thanks everyone for the compliments. i feel a little better..still think they look manly, but i'm just gonna stop working them for a little while, continue to work on lowering my body fat and see what happens i'm getting surgery soon and won't be able to do any arm exercises for about.. 6 weeks? nottttt fun!
(i guess i was trying to go for a different look. think jennifer aniston arms with a little more muscle. lol)
sonti- i mean just on myself they look manly/gross. probably because i'm short and i feel they are out of proportion to the rest of my body. i like "muscly" arms. i've always wanted muscly arms. but in that picture... i feel like they look "too big".

You cannot change your body's proportions but you can lose the muscly look pretty easy if you are willing to go up a few % in bf.
