Gallon of water a day... What does it do beneficially towards body building?..

so i started drinking a gallon of water everyday to stay hydrated and to remove some toxins from the body, but what does this really do for you?...

So... I think you answered your own question a bit. Is staying hydrated not a good enough reason?

Forcing down extra water isn't going to get rid of more toxins and trying to stick to some magic amount of water like one gallon is only going to make you pee more. Here are a couple of web pages you may find enlightening:

Staying hydrated is important. Drinking a gallon of water a day is going past the "staying hydrated" priority and moves on to a secondary goal, called "Pissing my kidneys off for no reason". Drink when you're thirsty.

This, you also get a bunch of water through the food you eat.

auctually the statement... drink when your thirsty is false. you should never be thirsty... thirst refers to your body telling you that your lacking water/hydration.. . . . thanks for the comments anyhoo.

IMO, drink water every meal to help metabolize your foods more efficiently and providing your body with as much of the nutrients possible. Also, while working out I would recommend to drink about 16oz = 1 bottle of water at least. Don't wait until your thirsty....by that time you'll be pretty damn dehydrated. Just make it a habit... like whenever people get a meal at McDonald's...they need their Coke. In this case, you want your water.

LOL at these posts. I have found that in the past 3 years that I have been getting 1 gallon / day or more, my blood values have gotten better each time (4 total). Cholesterol went from 244 to 220 to 200 to currently 177. LDL has improved each time as well. The only down fall imo, is having to pee 3 or more times while trying to sleep due to sensitive urethra.

One more thing: if you take creatine, you better hydrate well or look for bloody stool.

That being said, I lose any carb bloat when I drink a lot of water and my skin looks better. I don't know how much water I drink but it must be around 2 gallons a day.

Um I drink about a gallon of water a day too and I only do it because I'm thirsty. believe me if my body didn't need it I wouldn't bother drinking it. Maybe I'm some freak who needs a lot of water to survive though.

^^^ These. People thinking that experiencing thirst automatically means you are dehydrated are morons. A very small change in blood osmolarity triggers thirst and you are not dehydrated yet.

While dieting it helps you feel full. That has been for me the most important fact. If your piss is fairly clear you're drinking enough water. More isn't necessarily better.
If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough

Having to piss every hour = more activity = more fat lost on a cut.

I go by the color of my urine, 3 liters per day is about right for me.

drinking lots of water helps to keep you from retaining water & you need water to store carbs as glycogen...

also by the time you are thirsty you are already dehydrated... its best to sip water all day

    Drink only when you're thirsty?
    Kidney abuse?

    I've seen it all.

    FAIL.

A gallon a day is MINIMUM a hard training bb'er should consume. When I drink less I look like hell. And feel worse.

Thin skin and no holding water FTW.

If the consumption of water was truly this complicated and precise, we would have all been dead a long damn time ago.
