    They are ok but if you want to run why not go outside! Use the treadmill cash for a rowing machine or stationary bike - give yourself more options

    If you are referring to those manual ones that run without electricity than I would recommend you buying an automatic one. These come with different monitors like heart rate, pulse, etc and you can even adjust speed and inclination. They are less noisy than the manual ones since there run on gears driven by motors and other sophisticated mechanism. An automatic or electric power also comes with safety features like emergency breaking and all.

    When I am doing manual power sprints (the type where you hold onto the front handle and simulate driving a Prowler sled) they are fantastic. All other uses are pretty much non-existent.
