Hey, Brian, thanks.
The joys of home ownership are quite challenging at times. I'm fortunate that I can do the vast majority of remodel/repair jobs myself. The alternative is in the huge difficulty in trying to find a qualified contractor to do the work as originally specified, on time, and for the agreed-upon price.
Case in point; I've been looking for a qualified roofing contractor to replace the EPDM rubber roof on my house for nearly 5 years now. I was finally able to locate a reliable company through word-of-mouth, and had the roof successfully replaced last month. This was a job that required lots of manpower, something I couldn't provide just by myself.
I was able to get things squared-away last night; everything went better than expected.Sorry to read you gotta trade the iron for copper...I'd be lost so best to you in this!

I feel your pain on this one.
My roof got damaged this spring. Insurance adjusters came out and authorized a new roof, cut the check and walked away. Taking bids on the roof has been a lot more difficult. The pitch of the roof is the problem.
I got a bid a couple of weeks ago that I accepted, and when the installer came out he found that he would need more equipment to get the job done which would increase the cost of the work.
Now we are back to dealing with the insurance company again. Joy of home ownership...

With houses and maintenance/repairs, it's always going to be something, even with a relatively new home.
Dealing with a legitimate contractor/insurance company issue as you're currently doing is difficult enough in itself; consider the problems caused by contractors not showing up/doing substandard work/not doing work agreed upon/etc., and things get much more difficult. No brain, no gain.

Ironwill2008 V2.0
Good session today, even though the numbers didn't move up much. Effort was there, and that's the main deal. today's training was:
barbell Lunge
bar x5 W/U
135x5 W/U
225x7 huff & puff
225x6
225x6
Dumbbell Row
60x8 W/U
110x6
110x6
110x5
Incline Flye
40x10 W/U
55x8
65x7
65x6
Was able to finish off this session in about an hour. Didn't advance Lunges today, but got quality reps, so I'm good with it.
Picked up a rep on Rows, pulling me a millimeter closer to 120s.
Flyes didn't move again today. They'll have to move after deload week, or else I'll need to reset them and work back up.
That's all for this one; short, and to-the-point, this workout.
I'll rest tomorrow, then work on moving forward with Romanians, Curls, and Dips on Friday.
My wife cooked up this tasty 6-egg fritatta for PWO meal, with veggies and Parmesan cheese grated over it. It was accompanied with some thick-cut bacon, toast, a strawberry, and a glass of milk

Looking good, Bill. Lunges are strong.
Hey, I don't think I've ever asked you a food question, but can I get the basics on how to make a fritatta? I'm pretty good with omelets and scrambled eggs, but I hate to admit I've never even had a fritatta.Hebrews 12: 1,2

QFT.
Those fritatta's do look good, but no way I could do cooked spinach. Spinach has to be raw in order for me to eat it.
I like it prepared many different ways, but really like it as you do, raw, usually in a big spinach salad. One other benefit is that even in the dead of Winter, when lettuce choices are limited, spinach is always available and always fresh and tasty. No brain, no gain.

Lunges ftw! As of Monday I'm allowed to start working lunges back in which means I can read this thread more often and not go through DTs.

Hey Gale, thanks. Did my best, and had a good week overall. Every rep is a victory.
Have a good one yourself, bud.
Thanks, Terrence. Other than a neighborhood punctuated by a lot of noisy fireworks last night, it's been nice so far. Just hope some of the heavy storms moving through here would go away.
I hope you all are having a nice holiday weekend too.
Thanks, C.
Good deal on your being given a green light to train as you wish. It's always a tough row to hoe for motivated trainees when they have to scale it back. You're very wise to follow your doc's orders though; lotta guys posting on this site don't, and then wonder why they have chronic problem for the rest of their lives. No brain, no gain.

Ironwill2008 V2.0
Brought the training week, along with this three-week segment, to a close with a good session today. Made a few increments of progress along the way. Today's training was:
Romanian Deadlift
bar x15 W/U
135x5 W/U
225x5
275x5
315x5
345x5
365x5 heh-vee
Alternate Dumbbell Curl
30x10 W/U
45x8
45x8
45x6
Dip
bw +25x7
bw +25x7
bw +25x7
Worked my way through here in about an hour and five minutes. Hit reps across on Romanians again; after deload, I'll probably add a little bit of weight. I'm not in any hurry to advance these, but rather am just concentrating on getting all good reps.
Picked up one rep on Curls. Working these to 3x8 before attempting to move up.
Added a rep to each of the three sets of Dips. My left wrist squawked a little; moving forward, I'll have to keep an eye on this situation.
That's all I've got for the week. I'll rest over the weekend (no doubt by doing yard work), and then start a week of light deload training on Monday.
Post Workout meal was some roast turkey, fresh green beans, corn, some cranberry sauce, a couple of crescent rolls and a glass of cold milk. Love me some turkey!
No brain, no gain.

Same here. Luckily for me the sound of my noisy bedroom window air conditioner quickly remedied that issue for me.

Thanks, 'Dog. right now, that's about as much as i can handle for 5. I was working to get 4 plates to a triple, and stalled dead in the water at 2 reps. i'm going to gradually bump my 5-rep max up and then take another run at 405x3.
I guess you're not gonna give this up for the chance of private training w/ Jim on Warrior Island anytime soon?
I dare not even think about entering that thing; my luck, I'd win.
And it'll probably be more of the same tonight, and tomorrow night as well!
Ain't that the truth! We actually had the most beautiful weather for once yesterday then, just like clockwork, the moment we got to around 30 minuets of the time that our local fireworks were to begin it was like someone just threw a switch. Lucky for us the bark was worse then the bite this year so after a minor delay and a quick shower everything was back on track. Just another typical Independence Day in Pittsburgh!
It was about this time last year that the freak storm rolled through here and knocked out our electricity for 4-5 days, and in nearby areas for over two weeks. We've had a lot of heavy rain, but so far just one really bad storm with high wind. I don't mind the rain, especially now with a new roof overhead, but the wind (and hail) is another story. Got no use for any of that foolishness. No brain, no gain.

My wife takes them, Yak. She's retired too, and usually does her workout right before mine.
Thanks, Will. I had a good day Friday, and it capped a good 3-week run. Some light work this week, then back into the fray the following week.

We've had heavy-to very-heavy rain here almost every day for the past two weeks. There's been some flooding around here, and it's bound to get worse. We live at the top of a hill, so it's not really an issue for us, but I've seen so much water come down the street in front of our house lately that I'm surprised it hasn't tried to come into our garage yet.No brain, no gain.

Has your wife ever dropped your camera, Bill??? Busting it into many expensive pieces???
I just had to buy a new one. The prime consideration for me was a good self timer feature so I could get my progress pics done myself. So, there will be a few new pics added to my journal as I have fun learning how to use this new toy .
Oh... the new camera also has a nice neck harness for someone who has fumble fingers...which was the second most important feature.

Fine work, Bill. Hopefully, the wrist thing is a minor issue, but I know that you'll watch it like a hawk.
Like you, I was waiting for the rain to let up. I finally got to the lawn (which was taking on rain forest characteristics), served up a pork shoulder off of the grill, and even the hit a bike trail earlier today! (Making up for lost time, I guess...)"First train the mind, then the body."
