Ironwill2008 V2.0
Today was the last in a sesies of light sessions, designed to deload me from a stretch of (relatively) heavy training. I kept the loads light, and concentrated on keeping strict form. Today's training was:
Back "A"
Deadlift
135x6 W/U
225x5
225x5
225x5
Carlman Pull PWO (plate weight only)
60x10
60x10
60x10
Dumbbell Row
60x6
60x6
60x6
1-Arm Kneeling Pulldown PWO
20x10
20x10
20x10
Completed this extravaganza in under 30 minutes. It's been suggested by several people (Vox, -L, and maybe a few others) that I try Deadlifting barefoot, which I did today for the first time ever. During the actual exercise, I was a bit surprised that it didn't feel odd at all. But walking around the gym barefoot was another matter; I kept thinking I was going to stove a toe big time. It never happened though.
As far as pulling barefoot, I really didn't notice much difference, but this may be due to the fact that I wasn't really using any weight. I'm definitely going to try this again when my regular Deadlift day comes back around.
Got a good pump from Carlmans, as usual, even with relatively light weight. Same deal with the 1-Arm Pulldowns.
Can't really say much for 60 pound Rows, except that they're done. And so is deload week.
I'll be back in on Sunday for a full-speed calf/arm/ab thrash. My calves better look out!No brain, no gain.

Nice job getting the deloads done. I know you are ready for the heavy weights again.

Thanks, Phil! Yes, I'm rested and ready to move forward. Sunday can't come too soon.
That's an excellent synopsis of the contrast between light and regular training, Rich! Those two pics pretty much exemplify the difference between getting somewhere and standing still. I'm glad I don't have to train like the guy in the bottom pic all the time.
In the bottom pic, I look like I just stepped out on my front porch and picked up the morning paper!
wow...I wasnt expectin to be called a good sport
Back to the big weights next week Bill. Lookin forward to itLast edited by ironwill2008; 10-29-2010 at 09:04 PM.

I can't really say if I think it will be beneficial for me until I try it at full load. It was odd to walk around in there bare-fotted, something I never usually do!
Looking forward to seeing you get back to the heavy, Bill.
LOL! I sure was!
Glad the De-Load is done, Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing the heavy deads roll around again. No brain, no gain.

Thank you, Joan. I appreciate your support, as well as everyone else's.
Hey, welcome back aboard, Dan! My previous journal had reached the forum limit, and a lock was iminent, so I linked to this one, and then had the old one locked up.
Thanks; the avi pic just kind of happened, as most good ones usually do.
Glad you're here, bud.
Agreed. After I got done lolling, I realized how good that contrast was characterized in those two pics. I've often said that something to consider during a deload workout is that most gym rats would consider that level of intensity to be a kick-butt session. And that's exactly why Joe Average never makes any real progress.
What's up for the coming (non deload) week, Bill?
-=FLEX=-
Thanks, G. I appreciate the comment on the avi.
I'm way rested, and my motivation couldn't be any higher.
That post of Rich's was both hilarious and pointed, at the same time. Those two shots graphically show the difference in what it takes to make progress.
I'm really motivated to get back to work; I have a lot of areas that need improving, and I'm fired-up to get to it.No brain, no gain.

Hi Bill!
Did you get to go see Marshall defeat UTEP? I watched the Ducks put USC down on TV. Was a bit tougher than UCLA last week, but still a nice solid victory. Looking like it will be Oregon - Auburn for the championship, if both teams win out.
Bet you're glad the deload is almost over! Back to the heavy stuff next week..
Enjoy your Sunday!★DSC★

Lol at Rich's deadlift picture explanation
I always deadlift in bare feet, I like having the direct pressure with the floor, don't know if there's anything else in it, but it feels right.
I've said it before, but I love the pics mate, they really add an extra something to your journal.
Looking big and strong in the AVI too mate!Taking the "less is more" approach to cardio...
