Yukon FID utility bench - $170 good deal?
Hi everyone,
I would like to get your thoughts on the following Yukon utility bench ($170 overstock.com):
***Sorry, I forgot I do not have access to post links yet. You may Google search :
Yukon FID bench
I am a 118lb runner, and am looking for a utility bench for dumbbell workouts that also has a leg attachment.
There are some other benches that I like better but I certainly like the price ($170) of this one. I do not foresee me making room for a power rack any time soon so this bench will be used strictly for dumbbells. I checked the stickys and "Yukon" was mentioned as a quality brand. I also like that the seat can be slanted which will come in handy for incline/decline workouts for better positioning.
What do you guys think? Is this a descent bench?
Thanks!

I didn't see it on Overstock but amazon has it for 289.00
I would say 170 bucks is a good deal on that bench.
I think for 170 bucks you could get a better used one though.
That bench is not too heavy duty but if you are only using it for dumbells and you want new, it is good enough.Don't expect too much with the leg extention/curl.

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried searching craigslist for a quality used benches in my area (DFW), but the only benches I can find are the cheap benches that are ~$100 when they were new. Since I am a light-weight (haha) and will only be using the bench for dumbbells, I'm considering picking something up like this:
Body Champ 3780 ***Sorry, cannot do a link yet***
Someone on craigslist is selling one for $100 (before making an offer) that comes with 225# including bar that I can use for deadlifts. I can throw the stand away and use the bench as a utility bench. If the Yukon bench is not as great of quality as I think it is, then I may just go this route to get me started, until I can do more research to see what I like in a bench and invest in a better one in the future.
But maybe this is a bad idea and I am just being too thrifty.

Where is DFW?
Try using search tempest. It will look at all the CL and e-bay in the mile range you input.
Are you are thinking of doing deadlifts now too? You will now have a barbell. No reason not to train with a barbell which now goes back to getting a rack so you can do it safely by yourself.
The body champ is a POS and has no safeties if your going to bench by yourself. The squat stand is seperate but you would have to willing to drop the weight on the floor behind you if you fail.It also sold for 100.00 new!
Save a little more and be patient with CL. Kijiji etc.
Just my 2 cents!
On edit: I figured out the DFW.

Here is good rack and you could probably talk him down.
Here is another one

another

if you really just want a bench this one is great and has safeties plus a spotter stand.
The bench is removable.Looks commercial.

Thanks for introducing me to Tempest!
DEADLIFTS:
Let's forget I said this. I think I'll keep it basic with dumbbells only, although with the deadlifts idea, I was not talking about lifting massive weight. I just thought it would be a good exercise doing it with light weight and would help me while I'm on the clock, since at times I am required to do a lot of lifting. I can just stick to dumbbell deadlifts.
"Body Champ POS":
Ridiculous idea of mine... thanks for keeping me on track with your comment.
CL links:
Wow, there are some great deals (if I'm patient) out there when I am ready to go this route. I'm glad you brought this and everything else to my attention.

It may be helpful to explain my fitness goals and circumstances:
This year I discovered a hidden talent of mine... RUNNING! And apparently I am quite good at it.
I would like to tone and develop some muscle mass on my upper body for a more cut look, but my primary focus is developing my legs and core as I think it will improve my running ability. I am also in the search for some plyometric boxes that I can train with dumbbells as well. I also have my eye on a road bike to further my leg training and possibly get me to a biathletic event one day.
Due to an old injury from hockey and other sports several years ago, I cannot rest weight on my shoulders/neck in the way that is done for barbell squat exercises. That being said, a stand or rack of any sort would only be wasted space at the moment.
I have yet to pick out a room to dedicate as my weight room. Until I do, I will probably be working out in my bedroom and my office, so a utility bench is a great solution and easy (or at least easier) to move around and store away.
I am am extremely analytical (I think people have a word for that haha) and try to be very practical at the same time (People have a word for that too!), so I know I am making this harder than I need to be.

I cannot remember where I read it, but someone had mentioned the gauge used on quality benches vs cheap ones. Apparently the nicer ones use 10 gauge tubing if I remember correctly.
I have not been able to find any specs on the gauge metal for the Yukon FID 141 that I was looking at, although that may be something that has to be observed in person.

yukon benches, they are very wobbly and don't sit straight. if you want your muscles to have symetry of stregnth and mass your looking at the wrong manufacutrer, I know because I used to own and use one...not even the seat bottom sits straight, and the piece of metal thats used to prop up the bottom seat will bend and become useless..
