Any reason not to get the 2" thick?? Did I make a mistake going with 2" ??
I'm laughing my ass off right now becasue I was looking for the linlk to mc master to order some longer bolts for my hammer strength plate loaded shoulder press back pad... You helped me out.. I usually order bolts and parts for speaker and subwoofer building from them and forgot the link...

No it will just be alot harder to climb or hold on to with 2 inch manilla rope. The normal size is 1 1/2 thick manilla and that is hard enough to climb(Army uses this size). I say get the one outside 1 1/2 and leave the ones inside 2.

Spoke to Yosi a few days ago myself - seems like a really nice guy. We probably chatted for about half an hour and he was certainly willing to explain and discuss things.
He was supposed to put me in touch with a NY rep, but I haven't got an email or a call from him. I left a voice mail for Yosi today since I couldn't reach him and will give him another call on Monday.
Probably just busy or whatnot. I just hope I can start talking to someone whether it be Yosi or the rep and get some real details so I can make an order soon.
Also, Yosi said that they just recently updated their specs on the rack and it is indeed 7 gauge steel.

Exactly. They simply have the wrong weights on a lot of the stuff... I'm telling you that Atlantis rack, all of the hole spaces are as close together as possible. and those 3 sections of pullup bars are better than that 'monkey bar'. I do like some things about the Collegiate rack as well, so I'm not overly concerned. I'm honestly no sure what I would do if I had it over. I also like the custom height option of the Atlantis Polequin rack... I'd love to make it a solid 9 foot tall.

I've always liked the Hammer Strength and Power Lift racks (I've never seen an Atlantis rack in person), and if I were making the decision, I'd probably go with the Power Lift rack. As far as accessories, I'd definitely want the technique trays, additional J hooks and spotter arms for the front of the rack (as well as the safety spot storage hangers).
However, as much as you have wanted the Atlantis Rack , you should probably think long and hard about getting anything else (you would probably regret it). If I were you, I wouldn't rush into this purchase. Look at all of them again, and wait a few weeks and see which one you like then.

You have an awesome rack! You dont need another one, sorry for being a party pooper
I would use the money to get other things you dont have such as a 45 degree back raise, atlas stones, yoke, logs, gymnastic rings, plyo boxes, and a prowler.
BTW how I wish you were my neighbor! lolLast edited by gp92089; 02-19-2011 at 05:43 PM.

+1.
As a side project take your time and really look around.
See what reps you like.
Also be sure to ask about canceled-order/off-lease/demo/show-room piece, etc (at a good discount) maybe they have something or will take your name if something comes up. If in no hurry you can afford to wait and see what comes up.
Sometimes a customer orders 15 racks, then changes their mind and only takes 13, gets credit for the other 2, and the company has the 2 left over sitting, so ask about something like that...you can wait it out and see...

I'd get a height that is not too crazy and easy enough to get into a residential home.
Maybe something like 8' or 8' 6", I mean either way thats tall as hell for anyone other then shaq.
I'd get some outside safety catches and reverse J-hooks. Maybe a pair of technique scoops.
Pfffft. The rack is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment. If you get two you can have one with a bench that always stays inside the rack. The other you can have with no bench. It also helps because naturally the safety/j-hook height for a flat bench vs. a squat is much different, as-is the weight. When you add in outside safeties with a lower starting weight and boom you've got 4 stations so you can move from station to station nice and quick.
I know personally with only 1 rack like some kind of poor person I arrange my workouts around that limitation. So on my leg/shoulder say if I'm doing barbell shoulder presses, I'll do leg press/GHR/lunges for legs. If I'm doing squats I'll do dumbbell shoulder presses, cable work, etc.
------------
BTW, on another note you see the new pit shark that Sorinex added? (http://store.sorinex.com/Pit_Shark_s...p/ps-squat.htm)
I remember the guy that made it posted in here once. It looks interesting because it seems more natural then the cable version of a belt squat. And you can use it for weighted dips and possibly weighted pullups. Looks interesting and it doesn't seem to take up much floor space (as compared the other belt squat machines).

One interesting comment about their parliment building...which is beautiful by the way. On the back side it's a steep drop to a river (Often frozen). But yet there's a very simple railing, nothing absolute to prevent the stupidly reckless from climbing and falling to death or severe trouble.
My first thought to see it was, "Wow if this was Washington there'd be scores of dead children.".

I emailed and said I wanted it between 8' 6" and 8' 8", whatever was easier for them.
I'd get some outside safety catches and reverse J-hooks. Maybe a pair of technique scoops.

I didn't need much incentive to get another rack once the idea got into my head. I'm excited about it. Looks like I'll have to build a 50' x 40' or 50' x 50' room someday for this gym. In any case, I looked at the Power-Lift again, but I'm still really liking the Polequin rack better. I demoed it in Bakersfield and its just cool. The pics of it in Bakersfield are somewhere in the middle of this thread.

I watched the videos... It does look interesting. Thank-you for bring it up, it certainly is a unique piece. I'll have to think about that one.

45 degree back raise? I have the Elite FTS Pro Glute Ham Raise, no reason for the lesser 45 degree back raise.
I have been eying these up for a long time. I need to figure out how many to order:
Local cross fit place has rings and prowler... But yes, I'll try to incorporate crossfit and probably get kettlebells also.
In fact, I added this to the Atlantis order:

Anyone know how many kettlebells to get and what weight? Also what brand and type of material? ... and what represents the best kettlebell?

HealthNutMD,
Here are some reputable brands: Punch (Made in the USA), Muscle Driver Gray V2, Ader and Dragon Door. Punch, DD and Ader are pretty pricey. The MDUSA V2 are relatively speaking, priced pretty well. You want to get a single cast iron kettlbell. Thickness of handle and how smooth or gritty the handle is a matter of preference.
As far as what to get weight wise depends on a few factors. We carry the 8, 12, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28 and 32 KG in our gym. The 16 KG through 24 KG are most used. 16 KG (35lbs) is usually the KB recommended for a average size male who has no physical issues and is new to the KB.
Here are some links:
For the Aders: http://www.roguefitness.com/conditio...ettlebells.php
MDUSA V2: http://www.pendlay.com/Kettlebells_c_151.html
Punch: http://www.artofstrength.com/products/kettlebells/ (also you can go through Legend Fitness)
Dragon Door: http://www.dragondoor.com/
Hope that helps.Last edited by Skyaura; 02-20-2011 at 06:12 PM.

Pairs aren't neccesary, but sure are nice to have. Judging by the rest of the kit in your gym, get pairs! A lot of kettlebell moves just use one bell (swings, get ups). Others are a challenge with just one but it's a nice change to have two (press', cleans, snatches).
It's a nice set, but in my opinion anything below a 16kg for a healthy grown man is probably a complete waste. Can't quite see the increments on that set but you don't need tight intervals like with dumbells, a pair of 16, 24, 32, 40 will keep you going a long long time on nearly every move.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 22

Well, not really - he gave me a good amount of info. on prices and how I would go about the order, but that the local rep would be able to give me better prices and more details. He was a pleasant guy.
Also, the NY rep contacted me today - he was traveling. He was a really nice guy as well, answered all my questions and will be giving me a quote within the day.

Yeah, Yosi and the NY rep have both confirmed that it is 7 gauge so I'm glad to hear that. Agreed, the pull up bars are much nicer than the singular monkey bar, in my opinion. I also like the Collegiate so I can't knock it and it comes with a lot of nice options. I just think the Poliquin looks really smooth and clean. I think I'm getting it in gloss white as well. I really don't know if I'll change the height, I think I've more than 11ft in the middle of the room to play with. Any real benefits to making it bigger?
Did you get to use their adjustable bench? I might order one as well, would like your opinion on it if you have one.
