    What does it mean if your shoulders keep making cracking noises?

    When I move them, the bones always make cracking noise. Yes I experience shoulder pain every once in a while.

    Cacking when you move them a certain way? My guess is it could be an imbalance in your delts.. I.e one muscle being stronger and pulling your shoulder one way out of the joint then it cracks back in. Or could be cartilage.

    Need to stretch your shoulders before you lift...i do this with 2.5lb plates, too hard to explain the movement but google should do the trick

    Sometimes it's just fluids in there getting moved or something like that. Or it might be more serious. Possibly an impingement or hypermobility in the shoulders (I've got 'em both, so I know how it feels.) This probably occurs because of insufficient warmup.

    my shoulders are pretty fuked. crack all the time and pop and stuff. i saw a specialist and he said my options were either a) stop doing whatever makes them hurt or b) get (very expensive) surgery.

    surgery will help but its gonna cost a ****load, other wise deal with it because its gonna be a chronic problem and put you in high risk of shoulder injuries.

    I have had the same thing for years. Went to a doctor, told me I had an AC joint sprain, put me on naproxen to deal with it. Didn't help. I still get it but have minimized the pain caused by my shoulder injuries.

    You need to warm up alot better. Anytime you do upper body, warm up your rotator cuffs with 2-3 lb dumbbells by rotating your shoulders inward and outward, then doing light lateral/front raises and light db presses (10-15 lbs) until the fluid is circulating around your shoulders and you feel the pump/warm sensation. This guarentees that your shoulder isn't going into the workout cold without sensation. You'll feel alot better doing it trust me.

    This is how I warm up my shoulders. I do this any day I plan to use my arms at the gym.

    Get a broomstick without the bristles. Hold it horizontally before you at the waistline. Holding the stick at both ends (one hand at each), raise the stick over your head and bring it behind you without dropping the stick or moving your hands. Lower it to the lower back and touch for a brief second, then bring it back up the way it came, and stop at the waist. That's one rep. Do 3 sets of 10 of these, and I guarantee the popping will stop eventually, and although it will be uncomfortable the first time, it will get them ready for physical activity. I guarantee this will work and will rehabilitate an impingement in the shoulder.
