    Maximal Recoverable Volume

Dr.Michael Israetel, a professor of Exercise Science at Temple University in Philadelphia, talks a lot about Maximal Recoverable Volume (MRV). He basically says that you should train as hard as possible (at your MRV, the most amount of training that you can still recover from).

This will mean though that you are not getting stronger during the mesocycle. After the mesocycle (about a month) you take a deload and after that you should come back stronger. But most of the advice on this forum and other strength and conditioning coaches say that you should train hard, but not so hard that you can't get stronger from week to week.

So I was wondering what are your opinions on this?

I think he is mostly talking about muscle gain and is saying that you will get the most if you put the most effort in. For people that don't need to balance off real life considerations and aren't subject to varying levels of external stressors (professional athletes for example), this is viable. For everyone else it probably isn't and the extra effort is probably not worth the extra results given the rather extreme nature of the advice.
