See this is the odd part, when I first started repping 38s about a few weeks ago my ROM for the last two or so reps was poor, but now its good. I try to imagine the same situation of the dumbell bar coming close to my chest. I think it's because I've generally dont more dbell press than bench by miles, and therefore I'm just stronger in that. Or my bench form isn't giving me maximal power.

shut up i'm not being a dick, i'm saying 85kg is a good bench. the correllation between doing 30kg db bench and 85kg is fuked up so i think he's lying. i do 40kg dbs for 9 and i do 80kg on the bench for 10-11. hes putting up 60 kilos on the db press. i can do that on a shoulder press fairly easily, yet he benches what i do? sure, sure.
and you only see big guys do 30kg? really? my 150lb 6"2 friend does that.
