Introduction:
Back in 2007 I was a tiny kid who was constantly picked on (yes, I was the kid jumping to try and reach the white board). I was a mess. 4'11, 80 lbs. I wanted to change my life, and in high school I found wrestling, which changed my life forever. Freshman year I was 5'2, 90 lbs. I wrestled Junior Varsity 103. I did pretty well, losing at "JV Counties" to the champion by 1 point, and eventually taking 4th overall. My JV record was (13-5). Sophomore year was when I realized that this is my only goal (making states). I finally made the varsity team at 125 lbs. I did pretty average, (19-15), and I placed at the JV Seahorse Open (largest tournament is SoFla) and I placed at the district tournament (4th), and became a regional qualifier. I am currently 5'7, 142 lbs. I plan to wrestle at 130 or 135 lbs.
Now this year, I must become a state qualifier. In the offseason, I have been lifting like mad. We have practice at American Top Team as well, we are sponsered by ATT.
Max Lifts:
Bench Press: 165x10 (9/26/10)
Deadlift: 350x1 (To hips)
Squat: (Feet Together) 225x10 (with spot)
Total: 870 (according to max calc)
Our official conditioning season starts October 25th. I am going to be doing MAX-OT for the weight-lifting, I feel that it will be a great way to pop in and out of the gym while still having time to rest before practice. I haven't lifted in a month due to extreme overtraining. One day I decided to do 45 sets of legs. I suggest to not do that lol. Anyways, you'll notice that I can get a little cocky, but i'm sorta insecure so i'll always be worried about states. I need to be the best, so I never give in no matter what.
My sole goal is reaching FHSAA's 3A state tournament. May god be with me on this journey.

] Summary:
This is my own variation of MAX-OT and I have been seeing good gains really, I mean I did bench last week. 155 for 10 and it was barely making it, so 10 lbs on bench already is sorta kinda nuts. According to the Max Calc i'm at 220, so 5 lbs from my goal (225). I tested out the Universal stack, it's nuts mayne. I love it, and will be saving up for it ASAP! I smashed all PR's today. Woot!
Wrestling:
Today I did not wrestle. Tomorrow I get to practice =]

Summary:
I didn't feel that pumped, and I was very full. I went max effort today and blasted my lats and back. It felt devent, but not as good as when I was on Shock Therapy yesterday, I really need some of that stuff, it's intense. Really not much to report, I haven't increased lat pulldown in awhile so hopefully this will help alot (mostly lat based).
Wrestling:
Wrestling went pretty solid. We started with some setups for double legs and I finally fixed my penetration step (it was quite the hell of a drop to one knee lol). My double felt very strong. We then went to something called a "Weaver Cradle", which is basically an ankle pick when you have a front headlock. Nice move, should be helpful. I feel sorta weak from the front headlock so I will feel stronger for sure. Anyways, we also worked sprawl get behind standard crap. Live: Started against Rafy (our 103 lber, currently at 115). I have 25 lbs on him. He used to run a train on me every practice, but now he has to work really hard to get a takedown. Well, he got lucky -__-. We setup and I had a few attempts but royally screwed up, and gave him a single. I attempted to spladle but didn't have time, he got my back and I was prepping to crotch roll him, coach called the takedown and I got pissed.
Went against him again and grabbed a nice sweep single. He whizzered me to the mat and I used my momentum to flip him straight to his back, hax. Then, I went against Brandon (150 lber). He got double underhooks and layed his weight on me. I did a full peek out and spun, flipped him to his back for a pin. Hax. Then, we did conditioning. 15 spirnts across the mat, then standups for about 15 minutes, tough but not too bad. Then we did all the 6 inches and pushups etc. After, I stayed and messed around with friends.
Wrestling:
I met this man, Jason Kelly. He trains state champions and NCAA champions. I met him about a week ago, and I suppose he saw potential in me, because he offered me a free trial for some training. So my dad and I drove up to ATT Sunrise, and we waited for him to arrive. When he did, he took me to a room and gave me a long lecture on stance. He set me up with this SICK stance, it hurt to be in it. He had me do so much work and standups, high crotches, inside and outside, then so much more. Squat jumps, everything was intense. I could barely get up. After this, we had practice in the cage, where I did even more of the same thing. There was about 10 people including myself there for the session, aged 19-35. We went live after working underhooks alot.
I started pummeling against this guy and I bodylocked him once, he didn't get one on me. Then I went again with him and got 2 bodylocks in 2 minutes, not too shabby. Finally I went live with this older guy and he was really thick, I tried to trip him and he flipped me to my back, but I used my strength/momentum to flip him for a sick scramble takedown.
The guy charges $50 a session, I think i'm going to try and do it. He's incredible, one hell of a coach.
Wrestling:
So we started by warming up, running, all that crap. We played this fun game where you protect your "king" from being pinned. It was alot of fun, we ended up winning best 2/3. After, we did high offense. I chose to work on the throw by, ankle/knee pick, slide by, duckunder. Mid Offense- I chose to work on the outside high crotch, inside high crotch, double, single, and fireman's carry. After that, we work on cheap tilting (I already knew it well). We then went live from situations. Single leg, I finished easy vs this kid who weighs 122. Then from scramble position, note: I'm the best scrambler on the team, and have the best bottom. I won with ease, stacked him from the craziest positons lawl. Then, we did top/bottom, which I (again) won with ease. I figured 4'd the head, tilted him, pinned several times, etc. We finished with some spirnts and intense stand ups.
My back is so sore man.

Wrestling:
Absolutely intense practice. My weight in the morning is 138.6, I was 138.4 after practice. I worked my ass of man, honestly. I was a tad bit late because we had to find the high school (St Thomas). The second I got there, I got my shoes on and started doing work. We started with a 140 lb dummy using our hips to flip it for 20 reps. Right after, high crotches and squat jumps across the room multiple times. After, pummeling. Intense pummeling. Like, 45 minutes of pummeling, with cable bicep curls and mass amounts of pushups in between. I never gave up a bodylock and got 4 of my own, so lickz ya know. But yeah, I feel great. My quads are dead, back is sore, and mind is set to kill! 8)
Went to the pool and did a few laps, felt tough. Then I did a small plate workout which was tough as well. Just weighed in at 139 but I was 136 this morning, 3 lbs lighter than normal =]. Tomorrow’s practice, gonna wreck it.
Yesterday I had a wrestling tournament. First match I got a quick underhook and used that to drop to a single, ran it over for a cradle. Quick pin. My second match was terrible. The kid I wrestled was good, but it’s really NO EXCUSE. I lost 10-2? Whatever, I got majored and I’m really disappointed in myself for it. I kept trying to spladle and I wasn’t shooting, I froze up idk man, sucks. My last match was against a judo world champ. He only wrestled for 6 months too. He took me down and we went out of bounds. I granby’d out and it was 2-1. I choose bottom and escape, 2-2. End of 2nd round nothing happens. 3rd round he gets a takedown =/. Close match, I gassed a bit.
Coach Jason doesn’t want me to butt wrestle, or stay on the head. Time to change up the style. Im gonna start shooting hard because I CAN take people down dirty style ya know, and sprawling and getting behind and such. I feel like my whole offense is from the tie up, and I don’t really do anything else =/. Need a better shot and sprawl. I am going to try to stay on my feet the whole match. My bottom is really good. My top isn’t, I’m working hard man but I can work harder. Tonight I’m going to hit up the gym for sprawls and crap. Kinda disappointed in myself, only got 3rd/5.

Wrestled with mostly technique practice. Live takedowns vs. Daniel (short guy my weight, varsity senior). I dropped 2 dirty firemans, 2 headlocks, an ankle pick, and a wrench back. I gave up no takedowns, even vs. gama (best kid onb team, state qualifier and will place) (even though I didn’t take him down either =/). Felt good today, worked hard. My bear crawls are improving. I really like headlocks, and my sprawling is getting so good.
With there loss tonight at Purdue puts them on the bubble at 16-5. they are without there leading scorer for at least another month. They are also 1-4 on the road with a loss at UW-GB which is a really bad team. They needed OT to beat an 8-12 Penn State team. heating repair

Live your journal I'm wrestling as well keep me posted!
Thanksman, i'll try.
The past 2 months i've been wrestling hard. I went to a wrestling tournament last week and took 2nd, lost in overtime by making 3 big mistakes, I basically had the match won. I beat my first kid 8-2 (for pontetially dangerous I gave him 2 lol), and then I figure four'd the other kids head for a pin in like 40 seconds.
I have been placing top 2 in every single run we have, mile, 2 mile, etc. I occasionally win the runs. I always win the sprints/frog jumps/ bear crawls but sometimes slack, and I need to stop. Yesterday we had wrestle offs.
No-one wanted to go against me, so the kids just wrestled off for 25, 30, and 40. I am wrestling 135 this year. I wrestled just for fun anyways. I ankle picked our 130 and grapevined both his legs for a quick pin. The second match, I ankled picked the kid and was riding him, somehow he did some random thing and before I knew it, I wa son my back and he got 5. I was like...wtf this kid just started wrestling, so I got pissed and switched for 2 and then pinned him. It was lolz.
Today was a crappy practice. I didn't really eat anything so I was tired. I wrestled against this randoom 150 kid and firemans carried him, ankle picked him, and snap double legged. Then I went against our 130 again and he muay thai clinched my head and I shot a bad shot and he got 2, I was like...wow. So I took him down easy and then he attacked again and somehow took me down again!? I was like, wow what the hell is going on?! I was annoyed, whatever.
Ended up doing a 9 minute match vs myself, actually quite difficult. I did 20 pullups and 40 pushups as well in the time.
At practice today I had ringworm -__-. Coach did inspection, so everyone that had it (9 kids) had to run. we ran up about 400 stair steps, and did about 2 miles across. Then we ran another 2 miles with the whole team. I finished 3rd/30ish. Then we did 75 feet together jumps, followed up by 150 pushups.
Had our first preseason classic last week. 3 matches. First match was against a girl...I double legged her, tilted, then pinned in 30 seconds. Lol
Second was against some random. I was playing with him for a bit until he tried to get a bodylock. I threw him for 5 and the round timer went off. I choose bottom and spladle him but he somehow escapes but I don't let him up. Round goes off. Next time he picks neutral and I fireman him to his back and tech-pin him.
last match vs this kid (Andrew Wisdom, Cardinal Gibbons). He's ranked 2nd in thew state in 1A and took 4th in 3A last year. I did alot of stupid stuff like granbys when he had full control and got stacked. Last 10 seconds I lock in a spladle and I swear to you if I had 3 seconds more I wouldve locked it completely. He somehow escaped =/
The past week idk why but i've lost a lot of motivation/drive. Im currently on thanksgiving break up in Dayton tennessee so i'm trying to do stuff like squats, pushups, shadow wrestling to get that drive back. Theres nothing to do up here so I try to just think about wrestling the whole time. First tournament is next friday Dec.3-4. I'll post my matches and maybe a mini highlight or something because I know damn well that I should be able to go 10-0 (there are 10 matches).
In case anyone was wondering, I accomplished my goal of making it to the state tournament. I ran rampart at regionals, defeating two kids ranked in the top 6 in the state (expected to place) to make it (I was a no name). I threw the #4 seed in the state to his back and almost pinned him, beating him 7-5, then standing greamby'd #6 in the state to his back beating him 16-7.
I went 38-10 on the season, Here's my highlight.
DREAMS DO COME TRUE IF YOU WORK AT THEM HARD ENOUGH AND WANT IT MORE THAN ANYTHING!!!!!!
