I'm 6'4", 210 lbs. Us tall people sometimes have a bit of an issue with this. I know this thread is old but I figured I may try to help. With the top half of my leg being long, when I squat my butt is pushed too far back and there's too much weight behind me. To help this I used to lean forward, but that not good form. I'm a fan of front squatting because it moved the weight forward which keeps you on your feet. Its literally physics, you can practice squatting all you want but you wont be able to do it with proper form because of the length of your legs.

I had this problem when I first started lifting. The way to fix it is pretty simple. I started squatting bear foot or in flat footed shoes, next throw something under your heals to elevate them and it will make you use the balls of your feet more to keep you balanced. Another thing you could try to get your form better could be front squats. Also if everything is that tight stretch out like crazy before hitting any form of legs. So find a way to elevate your heels to emphasize the balls of your feet and not fall back. Hope this helps man!

squatting
oh god all these people are f*cking jack*sses. okay man if you are falling backwards while squatting it is either a thoracic spine, ankle, or hip mobility issue. go buy yourself a lacrosse ball and do some myofascial release exercises. when you get to a spot in your hamstrings that feels like you dont want to be there anymore, stay there until it doesn't hurt. you will be able to ATG squat in a few weeks if you are serious about squatting. and for f*cks sake, feel free to use all the free information on youtube.com

What was the point of that response? He knows he has a (not uncommon) problem, he came for help, not to be ridiculed. Most people these days are tight in the hips or T-spine at first, and so will struggle squatting with correct form at any weight. If you just want to make someone feel worse about themselves, leave it to the helpful people to respond
