Hey all,
i just started my keto diet about 4 days ago. I just have a few questions to make sure im diong it right and staying in check. I dont really eat "food" that much, i do eat chicken, fish, and eggs during the day but my diet seems to mainly consist of one meal multiple times: 2 scoops of Nytrowhey extreme and a glass of low-sodium V8. I drink a gallon of water a day and one banana every mon and wed before my MMA practice so i can fight without passing out with the lack of carbs.
Im losing weight like crazy, about 8 lbs in 4 days, and feel fine. im just worried about my calories being too low or does it even matter if i feel fine and see results?
THANKS

Hey bro, good question.
I did keto for months years ago and my experience was that the weight can come off insanely fast (like 5 lbs in a couple days) and then stagnate a bit before dropping BIG again and again...Sounds like you are spot on with that kind of weight loss, albeit in my experience, the weight comes off very fast in the beginning as water weight is shedded. Stay hydrated and fwiw, I didn't even count calories when I did that diet years ago...I went from 200 - 160 in maybe 5 months or so.
If you are looking to cut scale weight fast, sounds like you are doing it right!Mind, Body & Soul.

At 5'11" 220lbs, your low calorie intake will likely take a toll on your muscle mass and probably your potential for gains at the gym - maybe not now, but over the course of time.
Just keep a close eye on your performance, you'll know if you aren't eating enough.= Misc Anxiety Crew =

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, "huge success!"
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

theres alot to address here regarding your keto diet.
youll have to post up your daily calorie intake and composition for anyone to review your diet efficiency.
though already there is a major flaw in your 'keto' regime, that is your consumption of bananas. this already = sugars = carbs = kick you out of ketosis. stick to standard proteins and fats. MINIMAL or NO carbs. itll be very difficult to pull off keto with intense MMA (you should experience alot of brain fog and decreased energy levels if you are applying the keto diet right)
for your info, keto is GREAT at helping you lose weight fast, but this initial "weight" loss is mainly water from passive retention. its slightly misleading though very motivating. hence dont be expecting to keep dropping 'weight' off so quick after a few weeks. expect to be dropping FAT off efficiently and notice significant improved physique
hope this helpsMind over Matter

Theres alot of stickies and posts and articles out there addressing this. but when i first started out, i didnt fully understand.
So basically its a "no carb" diet (high protein and high fat intake) on the logic to influence the body to use fat as energy. rather than carbs being the prime source of fuel, itll force excess fat and ketones in the body to be stimulated. essentially an excellent cutting method, though adequate for bulking too.
Before getting into it, you might want to do ALOT of reading. for the reason that putting your into ketosis is very hard to maintain. if you were to have as little as 30g too many carbs, youll jeopardize your bodies ability to stay in ketosis and efficiently regulate this diet.
its also hard to get yor head around the idea of "eating fat to get thin". but its essentially the idea.Mind over Matter
