So I'm doing Rippetoe's workout program and it said that I have to do 3x5. So is the number 5 the max rep weight I can do or what % of max weight?

READ. THE. BOOK.
This is such a simple thing that I'm sure has been discussed over and over on this forum, and on the internet, and there are plenty of resources for you to be able to find the answer. I suggest using google.
Anyways, if you are messing this up, you will mess up other important things, which means you need to read the book so you can get the info from the horses mouth and not waste your time doing things wrong. Read the book, everything's in there.
