No supplement will add mass to a particular bodypart. She should instead look into changing up her workout routine to focus a bit more on the bi's.

then she needs to work on her diet. it is ALL in the diet for losing bodyfat. cardio is good for pulmonary health, but it doesn't burn enough calories to do anything for fat loss.

I think what raymonkey is saying, is that in the absence of a calorie defecit, cardio work does not do much for burning fat.

However cardio will help reach a calorie defecit, increase it simply because it burns calories.

Obviously diet is the biggest overall factor, but what he said was way too cut and dry, and not really accurate.

cardio work simply does not burn enough fuel to be a worthwhile method for fat loss. period. it is all in the diet.

So what you are suggesting is that if someone were to take up a new sport like basketball, or added 5 miles per day of running, or incorporated HIIT, etc., that it would not accelerate fat loss beyond diet alone?

changes in diet are a much more efficient way to lose fat than high intensity cardio activities. cardio is not useless, it's great to keep you healthy. but it's not the best way to get or stay lean.

simply adding 10lbs of lbm is better than a half hour cardio session per day.

i think what hes saying is most people who are overweight are currently operating on a caloric surplus, and diet needs to be addressed first.. cardio may not be enough to burn enough calories to place them into a deficit

I agree with this. My point of contention was that it is an effective fat loss tool when used correctly, not that that it was the best one. Thus my need for clarification to what you said.

no, i am not even saying it is an effective fat loss tool. it isn't. it is a way to keep your cns and pulmonary systems healthy and more efficient. diet is the most important part of your goals for fat loss or muscle gain, resistance training is second, supplementation third, cardio is somewhere down around number 10 or so.

you think the top bber's are getting shredded on an hour or two of cardio a day? that's what? 200cals burnt total out of the 5-6k they need to maintain their mass? they could drop all cardio activities and still get just as lean for contest time.

Any basic whey protein powder will help. You said her diet has good, so a light-weight high rep full body workout should catch it up. Make sure she checks with her doctor before taking aby supplement since she is diabetic

Why is anyone in this thread even making suggestions about fat loss, that was not the question asked here. The question asked here was about adding mass, mainly in the biceps. I would say she should try to lift heavy and take in alot of protein.

A diabetic woman with almost no muscle to do heavy weights low reps?!

Youre also the one who started the convo about cardio in here when the Q was about building initial bicep mass though... Not TOO sutprised with that comment

Yes why not? As heavy as she is capable of lifting, thats the way to build mass which is what the OP stated the goal to be.

That isn't the ideal way to start. 8-12 rep exercises is how you start. Especially for women because their muscles do not grow as quickly as mens do. Either way, she should do more tricep exercises as they will make for better arm results and will stimulate the biceps as well.

I am minoring in kinesiology, these are facts. I research muscles more than anything. Not just making this stuff up ha
