One pound of fat is 3500 calories. There are 9 calories per gram of fat.
3500/9 = 388.88 grams
The density of fat is .9g/mL.
388.88g x (1mL/.9g) = 432 mL.
Now as far as where your fat comes off, thats different for every person. Also as you loose weight, the surface area of your body will become smaller. Which means removing 432mL of fat will become more noticable.

notsureifsrs^ (not srs) lol
I have not discovered the equation where x is inches lost from the waist and y is pounds lost. Don't really think there is one because bodies are different. In my experience, it is erratic and nonlinear. In my first 8 pounds lost, my waist slimmed down 2 inches. In the most recent 6-8 pounds, my waist went down one half of an inch.

I think the best example of losing inchs off your wasit and relating it to lb lost is a roll of toilet paper. With a new roll taking a few sheets off doesnt make a really noticeable difference. The more you remove sheets the more noticable it gets. Its all about surface area and volume.
For Tommy, 6lb might be an inch, for me its 33lb. The more I lose the fewer pounds it will requires to see an inch off my waist.

I knew you were serious. Twas me who was not. Seriously, though...
This is interesting. I don't think fat loss is uniform for a lot of people (certainly not for me). If it were, calipers and tape measurements would show the same consistent changes in relation to fat loss. For example, my hip skin fold would go down at exactly the same rate as my thigh skin fold (or at least by the same percentage overall). And there wouldn't be this annoying concept of "stubborn fat" areas. Anyway, hopefully your answer is the baseline the OP was looking for. Certainly more helpful than the naysayers even if it's not 100% accurate for all.
