I have noticed through experience that if you drink anything carbonated, the next day your muscles are more sore than they would have been if you didn't drink that (fill in the blank)....
Really hate this, tried to do some research on it and there few studies on carbonated water and muscles at all.
Some studies suggest that it displaces calcium in the cells, probably doesn't help either that it makes the blood pH more acidic and your body does use calcium to counter this act and raise the pH back up to its normal range.
This is why cokes are a no no to any body builder/athlete and we all know alcohol (especially beer because of carbonation) is a double whammy with this.
Some of my favorite drink replacements for these are those crystal light singles and Hawaiian punch singles that have few calories (but still contain aspartame >:X). But if you do decide to drink (fill in the blank), then be sure to follow it with plenty of water. Just as the carbonation has displaced nutrients, the water will do the same afterward clearing the way for more nutrients to come.
Just what was on my mind today
