    What is the 'bad' fat?

    Was it poly, or monounsaturated?

Like he said. Everything in moderation. The Poly and Mono are the good fats. Trans is horrible. Saturated fat isn't ALL bad but isn't as good as the others.

As some have said most fats are good for you as long as ratios on poly fats do not get too unbalanced (in the west we eat excessive omega 6 and not enough omega 3 which massively contributes to many of our health problems). Unless you are on a keto diet eating excessive saturated fat is unwise, but on a keto diet there are rarely negative effects. In moderation saturated fat is safe, and extremely anabolic. You do want to watch your total intake of omega 6 however to make certain it does not outbalance your omega 3. Mono (omega 9) are generally safe and healthy.

Trans fats, which are in virtually everything that is refined (most trans fats can legally say zero grams of trans fats on the label in the US btw... look for the words hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated in the ingrediant list), are the truely bad fats. They are not safe to consume in any amount.
