Anyone ever run an ad in the paper?

I am thinking of becoming an independant PT, I hate working for a gym. I found a nice gym that only wants $10 per client I train. I am thinking an ad in the paper would be a good idea, anyone have success with this?

Try the best online newspaper = craigslist. I've gotten quite a few clients from it, and the best thing about it, is that it's free.

Yes, normally the paper costs money and investment return is minimal because few people respond to ads in the paper. A better bet is contact your local community paper, and ask them if they want you to write a column about fitness for them (if someone doesn't already). A quick and easy article once a week/month can give you not only free advertising, but instant credibility.

I advertise inthe local free paper for my womens only bootcamps. Have done it twice so far. It costs me $720 per full page

First time 14 new bootcampers = $2758 = 377% ROI

Second time 33 new bootcampers = $6501 = 900% ROI

Wow I was thinking of taking like a small 2 or 3 inch add, but now you got me thinking. Unfortunatley I don't have an extra $700 kicking around, but still i guess the bigger the ad the better.

The thing to remember is thats its all about the copy you write in it. a full page ad can be successful or get you 0 clients depending on how good it is.
