Okay, this really pisses me off. My girlfriend's sister recently had a baby out of wedlock and purposely left the father's name off the birth certificate so she could collect welfare. WTF? So of course the father has no financial obligations to the child and pays nothing. She doesn't work and doesn't plan to.
Three months later, her sister and the father have broken up and she has to find a new place to live. Well my girlfriend was living with three roommates in a nice house and paying $350 per month for her share. Now she feels obligated to help her sister for the baby's sake. So she is now going to move into a 2 bedroom / 1 bath apartment with her sister for $750/month. And get this: my girlfriend is going to pay for all the food, rent, and utilities because she thinks her sister doesn't have any money!? I asked how much does her sister receive on welfare and she said that her sister hasn't told her.
My girlfriend works her ass off every day of the week, working full-time and going to school part-time. She also has thousands of dollars of student loans to pay back and a credit debt that builds interest each month. My girlfriend does not need nor can afford this extra financial burden. Her sister is a complete narcissist with no ilk of responsibility, who got pregnant by "accident", and will leech anything she can from other people.
Now she is using the baby as a crutch to receive sympathy, free housing, and freedom from any responsibility while others have to sacrifice for her benefit. My girlfriend says, "I don't want to take care of her, but what can I do? She has a baby now and is a part of my family. I can't say no to her."
This makes me RAGE!
So I must know, how much does a mother with a single child receive on California welfare?
