i'm at 210 pounds, the lightest I have been since high school, and still I don't really feel I look different than I did at 292. I'm obviously smaller and healthier ... but on the bad days I don't really feel any different. Wild.

    I fight it every day.

I feel the exact same way man, good to know I'm not the only crazy one out there.

Ruptured L5-S1, & subsequent (successful) surgery.

I may never have become clinically overweight, but I went from healthy & strong to skinny-fat & weak.

18 months, some physio & 15 pounds (and significant body recomposition) later,
and I'm looking & feeling much better.

Recently rediscovering weights after a ~25-year absence.

Yea pretty much, It was more of fear, I was terrified of what would happened if I didn't do everything exactly like I was told to, Fear of the wrath of god or something, once it was gone, it all went downhill fast. I'll see if I can find a photo's and put up. There's other factors obviously but that was the dime on which I turned. Family was very poor so Mc Donalds was our equivalent to lobster and steak dinner, my family never ate healthy and their money woes are their own fault. In highschool when I got my first job, I became obsessed with fast food and eating out and stupid stuff, I still have a tremendous love for food and cook like nobody's buisness. But I let it get the better of me for so long.

I've always been heavy but had kept it semi-checked due to being active. However early '97 I became depressed; while the reasons seemed important at the time they are unimportant at this point & I shouldn't have let them effect me. I then found MMO's in starting with Ultima Online to Everquest then to WoW. I immersed myself (retreated from the world) in them every night and all weekend long. Add that on top of very poor nutrition and it's no secret why I gained as much as I had.

As Drewott stated though, I did it to myself & have taken full responsibility for my choices.

I've been MMO free now for almost a year. I rarely play any other video games either. I'm no longer depressed & I'm 153lbs down. I plan on having the rest of the fat I want to lose off by the end of the year and be starting a very slow bulk back to a decent looking weight while staying around 10-12% bf.

Well I got lazy after H.S where I always active playing football, police academy, and I was in awesome shape, and then I got into a motorcycle accident and everything went down hill from there, but I am happy that I am back into it.

Pretty interesting to see the prevalence of video games in these threads. They were certainly part of my problem (eating ****ty food while raiding), but they also have proven to be part of the solution. The day I decided to improve was the same day the cute little voice on the Wii Fit I just bought my wife called me "obese."

And as I mentioned in another thread, I'm going to keep using them as motivation. I have imposed a weight-class upon myself for WoW raiding.

I was prescribed an anti psychotic called Zyprexa, which is known for weight gain. I didn't work out. Smoked to much, drank to much. I ballooned out to a pretty fat 220. Medication and lifestyle changes, now I'm down to 160 and looking to gain some lean mass.

    Exclamation

I was very fit, thin, low body fat, could see most of my abs! I loved working out and loved sports and physical activities in general.

...then around 1991 my health started to deteriorate, one issue after another hot pretty hard and it just felt like I was sinking in a pool and could never get to the surface.

...until this year. I'm not sure what changed it all for me, but I made very small gains and certainly put forth more effort, and my 6"7 314lbs frame, is now down to 296lbs over the past 5-6 weeks. It's not a huge difference, but for me just seeing my body changing and headed in the right direction gives me additional inspiration and motivation to follow this through until I can consider myself fit , once again.

Got a girlfriend, and pigged out together. Realized what a slob I was when we broke up, and haven't looked/felt better in my life. Guess that was the one good thing I got out of that relationship, and to be honest, it was a well-worth it wake up call.

It started with a dirty bulk in 2006. Lost two jobs, got depressed...

Got my employment figured out but a bad relationship (when we broke up, I told her 'I hope you die.') kept me depressed. Then I leaned out a little bit using a woefully inadequate 'lifestyle diet' called 'Precision Nutrition' (precision? Hah!). I just didn't know how to cut. Got back up to 205 and mid-20s body fat.

Discovered Intermittent Fasting and the Fat Loss for Noobs thread and cut down to 12% body fat and 159lbs in 4.5 months. Back up to 169 after not lifting for 2 months.

Back on IF and sitting at 12-14% looking to get to 10% now.

I'm not TOO familiar with bulking, but a "dirty bulk" is eating basically everything, and not being conscious of whether it's "clean" or not?

Moved to England for a few years and discovered pubs (great beer and greasy pub food). Ballooned from 155 to 225 in 1 year. Dropped it all when I came back.

Well yeah, I'll never eat unrestrictedly to gain ever again - but I'll probably do leangains IF and just add 500 calories to maintenance amd go from there.

My iPhone app (Lose It) makes it retard-simple to track calories.

Was hardcore into lifting and working out and was big and ripped, then life took a terrible turn in one incident needed 3 surgeries ad took awhile to heal. Couldn't do anything and didn't really care anymore so went through therapy but ever pushed myself and ate whatever I wanted. Earlier this year I finally decided that **** was enough and I was going to get back where I was.

I played soccer & baseball all the way through high school, so I never was really forced to train all that much on my own or even monitor what I ate. I had a terrible diet, but never saw much weight gain from it. Then I went away to college kept eating terrible (beer + pizza etc.) and didn't work out much. And I steadily put on about 100+ pounds over 5 years, just a slow and steady gain over the time.

I hopped on the scale June 18th and was 292.5, for whatever reason that was the number that made up my mind that I'm going to get healthy. Down to 267.5 now. My goals to get down to 235 or 240 by New Years.

Pretty much I was young and uneducated about bulking. Everybody told me eat what ever the hell you want and lift hard. I ate junk I ate out 2-3 times a day I ate a lot of fried foods. Basically a lot of calories of junk that had no nutritional value whats so ever. I went from 155 pounds at like 10-12% body fat to 210 pounds at like 25-30% body fat in like 5 years. I honestly didn't even really notice that I had gained a lot of weight I kept saying oh im sure most of it is muscle blah blah blah. Well you live you learn im back down to 170 and slowly getting to my goal.

    Good Luck

Played elite youth hockey for most of my youth, went to big tournaments in here in europe even won the youth euro champs so training/matches was 7h/week for me. Then i just quit, took up chess and bowling(family sport more or less), and ate just as much. Eventually got a computer, Amiga 500+ awesomeness which i played on constantly. Got PC a few years later, played even more. Once the MMORPG scene came out it was too much to resist, started out with Asherons Call 1, and now world of warcraft.

Tho ive lost little over 30lbs the last 2 months, im still worried about my very long game hours i have. And soon an expansion to the game will come out, its a battle i will take when the day arrives. Now i play about 1-2 hours per day, and try to activate myself whenever possible.

Back when i played WoW i acutally became dangerously underweight.. i couldnt be ****ed eating woke up at 3pm, didnt eat breakfast and drank a **** load of coffee haha. But a few years before that stage i was fat at a point. Every day i came home from school i would drink like 3 glasses of coke and eat **** like donuts and shapes out of the cupboard. I actually eat more now than i ever have in my life, i just know how to eat healthier these days.

When I played WoW and other MMO's I was also addicted to the gym, 157, 10% bf (17 and 5'7"). Also maintained a pretty clean diet, although until I was 18 I got away with eating anything.

Moved cities to go to uni, got a girlfriend, went downhill from there. Stopped going to the gym, ate fast food. Went from 158 to 186 in a few months, stayed like that for probably 9-10 months. After a crap semester this year I realised what I had become, a lazy chub. Broke up with girlfriend two months ago, lost 14 pounds so far, and on track to bringing my GPA up much higher. 8-10 more Pounds to go till im finished my cut.

Worked at McD throughout college. Took advantage of the cheap prices + discount for all my meals.
