Thats funny because I moved from NY to Raleigh, NC and it was the BEST decision I ever made. NC FTW! Not sure about the lack of women thing, you live so close to Duke, UNC and NC State, there are tons of girls around here.

Nice to know how instead of giving useful advice, you decided to correct me on a technichality
And Lol at you think my attitude will change the fact that I am still in a ****ty school. You can have the most positive attitude, you'll still have to bear the fact that your going to be going to hell (my current school) for over a year..
Thanks. Makes me regret moving here.
The diversity is still pretty low though. Atleast in my area
Cool story hansel. Enjoy your neg
Not having a car= Your limited and "stuck" so that you cant meet these " tons of hot chicks"

Durham sucks, no doubt. Lived there a while myself, but there's worse.
All you can do is deal with the hand you got dealt. Make new friends. Do stuff with them that you'll enjoy. Stay connected to your old friends on the internet. Work your ass off in school so you can get a scholarship to go to any university you want. Control the stuff in your life you can control and deal with the stuff you can't. Patrolling a misc thread for 6 pages about how you don't like the South doesn't seem like either of those options.

OP, Get a car. Life changing in NC. Especially living where you do. But, If you were smart you'd find girls with drivers licenses to whip you around. That's what I did until I got my license.
NC is probably the best state. Let me list some facts.
- Michael Jordan lived in Wilmington, Went to UNC.
- RTP
- UNC and Duke basketball.
- Mountains and Beach
- Southern girls
- ECU is like top 10 party school
- UNCW has a million bitches
- Jermaine Dupri is from asheville, nc haha

This is what i was thinkin...
You cant move to one city and assume the whole south sucks... because it doesn't, its just a different style of life... and i have to agree with a few other posters, harden the f*ck up and make something happen that you can be happy with, instead of just bitching about it.

I dont know about dealing with the hand Im dealt with. I'll just keep working out/trying hard in school I cant enjoy the riches other people enjoy because of my current situation. I cant get chicks because of my current situation, and I wont be able to meet new(diverse) people. Theres no hope for me making tons of friends, no hope for me going to prom/ and I wont go to graduation.
Maybe once they call me for a driving test, then i'll have ot look into the stuff to get into a car. Until then, I wont enjoy those "fine" pleasures or those "hot southern girls" because there aren't much hot southern girls in Durham
If you live in a mediocre area, doesn't matter how you try to make the best of it, it will still seem mediocre.
You cant make it the "best", because you'll still realize that you lived in a **** hole. Harden the **** up and try to be happy? Easier said than done, and theres nothing no one in this area that can change my point of view. You cant tell someone to be happy. They have to feel happy , and quite frankly , I don't feel happy.
As far as the whole south **** goes, IDC if another part of it is "Better". Im talking about the situation im in now. Unless I get a car, which wont be likely for a pretty long time, then Im screwed. You can live in the best area, but if your unhappy, no amount of things are going to change this. I dare you to try to change my POV, because as I see it, my 9 months are hopeless. You have no idea, seeing everything around you, in hopeless abyss. Seeing gangs around every where in your school. seeing very little attractive people. Seeing most people in cliques, who act ignant to whoever isn't like them.
You wont appreciate things in life, till you lost it. I ignorantly thought that I'd make a good amount of friends going into a new school in my senior year. Oh boy, was I wrong. Now I regret going, and dammit, I would have never appreciated all my friends until I lost them. Actually, I was thinking of doing anti depressions to actually help with the pain. Ive done them before, helped me during the day, so I'll need something to bear the 9 months of torment and misery.

Dude, learn the laws. You don't have to fuck with drivers ed any more. You are 18. go get your license now. Go take the fucking test. Take the driving test with DMV guy and you will get your license.
You passed the permit stage. 18 is legal age. No Driver's ed needed. Just go to the DMV. WTF are you thinking?

Actually, I lied.(yup) just so that I wouldnt be bombarded with "Lol 17 wait till your my age" posts. So no, I'm still in the permit stage. And I simply cant just go to the DMV and get my license.
So yeah i still have to wait till they call me so that I may take the test. say what you will next, I dont really care. I just had to clear **** up. I'll be 18 in 5 months, which hopefully they'll call me before that age, but Im still in a **** hole regardless.

Only read parts of the thread, but you're about to start the best time of your life which is college. If you're in your senior year, i assume you'll graduate in 3 months or so and then college in the fall.
I'd say suck it up for now (easy for me to say, I know) and worry about applying to schools. NYC will always be here in a couple of years, but you sound like you wanna meet new diverse people; college is definitely the place to do that.

Definitely probable. I doubt I'll be any better
I have no real choice right now. I've literally survived 8 month's on torture. I've applied to colleges here in NC, and I'll just do a semester here and then transfer to a school in NYC(likely spring 2012)
Only thing is, I have another 10 more months of misery.
