Take SAM-e on empty stomach or not?
Is it essential to take it on empty stomach? Mine is enteric coated. Some say they take it with food. Which one is correct?

Usually directions says to take it on an empty stomach, away from food. I'll stick with that.
Sorry for my English, it isn't my primary language.

Whenever I take SAMe I take it on an empty stomach along with my B-Complex(Jarrow B-Right $8 here already active forms).
400mg is what I take as well.

I've heard you should never take any vitamins on an empty stomach because it may hurt the stomach lining. Is it bad if I take a multi first thing in the morning to enhance SAMe absorption?
When is it OK to start eating after taking SAMe first thing in the morning in a fasted state from the previous night? That's pretty much the only time I'm on an empty stomach because I eat casein before bed.

you need to take the SAMe with a B-complex otherwise you might as well not take it at all. It requires B vitamins to work. You can vitamins on an empty stomach, it doesn't matter.

How much Vitamin B is required? My SAMe has Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) 0.82 mg built in.

SAM-e needs to be taken on an empty stomach. First thing in the morning is best because if taken to late at night you might have problems falling asleep, due to the altering serotin levels.
A good b-complex product to take with it is B-right from Jarrow Formulas.

Will I OD on vitamin B if I take this in addition to a potent multi like Orange Triad?

You cant OD on Vitamin B; it's water-soluble and hence you piss out what you don't need.

While what he's doing isn't nearly enough to manifest side effects, you can most definitely overdose on some water soluble compounds (see: niacin-->liver toxicity, B6-->neuropathy for two common examples).

I know, and I knew someone would bring it up... however for OP this doesn't apply. The wheel can't be reinvented with every single post on this forum

I mean I don't think all members here with simple questions wan't to start a scientific colloquium. You bringing up the b6 issue was absolutely good... however OP would only be getting ~65 mgs of B6 per day combining those products (under UL value--which is below toxicity value), so there was no point for me to include gratuitous information that doesn't concern OP.

Is it OK to take BCAA with SAM-e on empty stomach first thing in the morning to halt catabolism or the BCAA will affect the SAM-e absorption? I hate to wait 30 mins before eating anything after 8 hours of fasting from sleep.

SAMe should be enteric coated so something liquid with it shouldn't screw up absorption. Its the HCL that degrades the SAMe. Longer it stays in the stomach the possibility of degradation goes up. I took it for about 8 months straight. Joints certainly improved as an added bonus.

There might be no issues that I know of with taking BCAA's with SAM-e but again I rather just take it by itself. 8 hours of sleep(fasting) is not going to reduce your lean body mass, as long as your diet and training are in check with your goals.
If you are still concerned about "fasting" then have a protein shake with a blend of whey, egg white and micellar casein about 90 minutes before you go to sleep.

Is SAMe meant to be taken in cycles?

Will these 2 supps interfere with SAM-e first thing in the morning 30-45 mins before breakfast? They also require empty stomach for better absorption.
NAC
L-Tyrosine

The absence or presence of food within the stomach will have an insignificant impact on the effectiveness of enteric encapsulation, so if your stomach is sensitive to the nutraceuticals you are ingesting, just take them with a light meal e.g. yogurt, ect.

SAM-e and my multi are the only supps I've been taking this month (strength way down due to no creatine ) but want to see how it will affect liver enzyme levels, the only reason I'm trying it out and why I'm avoiding all other supps. Usually they sit at the high end of normal so hoping for some reduction when I get tested next week to justify the price of the SAM-e. Haven't noticed any other tangible benefits tbh. Mine too are enteric coated and I take with my multi on an empty stomach purely to follow the directions on the box.
