    Injury while working out....please help!

I have been working out for a few months and everything has been good. One day, I was working out chest and didn't feel too good. I noticed while benching, my left shoulder would hurt and experience a very uncomfortable feeling when pushing forward. Anyone have an idea what maybe the problem? I don't experience in any pull motions such as back, biceps or anything else. I can't do push ups either without being in pain. Need help.

could be an AC joint, could be something in the rotator cuff. The only way to know for sure is to go to the doctor unfortunately.

Shoulder problems are the #1 injury area for weight lifters. nobody hear can diagnose your injury over the internet so I am going to agree its best to get to a doctor /physical therapist who can give you the answers you seek.

One thing I will say is that most people have very weak rotator cuff muscles (because they dont do any exercises to strengthen them). when you are better I suggest doing internal shoulder rotation exercises and external shoulder rotation exercises (with an emphasis on external).

I would not bench press again until your problem is resolved.

Most likely a rotator cuff strain. Take it easy on the heavyweights for a little bit and focus on stretching and working muscles that are opposite of the chest. You should focus on posterior deltoids, traps, rhomboids and your lats. Learn some chest stretches that you could do against the wall and maybe incorporate some resistance band rotator cuff exercises if your shoulders feeling up to it. everyone seems to focus entirely too much on chest while ignoring the other half of their body. This all stems from the age old question" how much ya bench?". This one question has been the seed of thousands, maybe millions of shoulder injuries!
