    Joan's New Changes, New Me!

    HI

    I've been bodybuilding for 10yrs.
I have done a few competions and have done fairly well.
My passion is creating a lean muscular physique. aka: Bodybuilding

I recently (the week of Sept 1st 2010) Had to make a change in my bodybuilding regimen…mainly the Supplements and Diet.

I had been training with supplements and doing a low carb/fat, high protein diet for many years. I have now changed.
My kidneys were being damaged and oveloaded with toxins because of the use of supplements for many years.

I have now changed and will Not be using supplements for my bodybuilding goals, and have change my diet as well.

I will Train Hard and Heavy to build Lean Muscles with out the aid of any kind of supplement. I WILL do this! I CAN weight train, diet well, and BUILD SEXY LEAN MUSCLE!!

The pics in my bodyspace are of me before my change….Once I get a month into my "Supplement-Free" training, I will post pics of the ‘new me’.

Take Care, God Bless, Be Healthy and Strong!!

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

    Happy Monday!
    It's a Holiday so no work today...Yay!

Randy will be cooking for us today...He has all the stuff needed to cookout on the grill. Yummy Foods! ( I placed my meal order with him )

I'm feeling quite well this morning.
I had set my alarm to wake me for my workout...but it seems my internal clock had beaten it. lol
Before my workout I had a ricecake with some whey pp.
Getting myself psyched up...I mentally focused on what my intended plans were.
...to smash my chest, and burn-out my abs

Focus on pushing as hard as I could on the last reps were my intention...Pushing till failure.
    I Did It!

    90:13
    85: 13

    CARDIO

30min between TM, ELP and BIKE

Super News: Todd Pember, promoter of the competition, called me and asked if I would be willing to work the show..both Friday(day before) and Saturday (day/night of show).
I will be helping out with the competitors back stage, getting them ready, getting them things, helping with oiling them, and what ever little things need done to get things ready before and during the comp.

This is exciting to me, since I can not compete At least I can be part of the show in this manner.

Now I must find something hawt and sexy to wear...for the evening show. lol

And I must keep my workout and diet on track too....So I can look good on during these days, as I will be around Many Beautiful Hard-Bodies *wink* YUM! LOL

Sub'd ! Great idea to start a new page at this point. Looking forward to lending support and following along. I didn't realize you were also on low fat diet. I keep my fats up along with protein when I low carb (almonds, avocados, peanut butter).

How very exciting that you will be working on the show back stage. You will have SO MUCH fun!! It's a great way to stay motivated and be involved in the sport you love! Awesome. Can't wait to see what you will wear for the night show!!

I don't ever use supps, and I keep my protein at about 140 which is about 1g per 1 lb of body weight. So far, so good. I've never thought I needed supps. I tried creatine once, & it sent me right to the bathroom. Yuck-o Put a bad taste in my mouth for anything like it. Good luck in a fresh, new path. However, I don't think you'll need luck.

Yesterday was a long day. This is good, cuz I'd rather spend a long day at home than at work.

After my great chest workout yesterday ( and I nice DOMS from it) I kinda just hung out around the house.
I did notice around 2pm I started getting a little tired, like low-energy tired. don't know.
I perked up a little in late afternoon.

While Randy and his brother were fixing my kitchen cupboards....I went to bed around 8pm.
    Slept Well!
    Woke up feeling Really Good!

I had the mind-set of working my legs hard... Oh yeah, the swelling/fluid retention is Gone!
I have nice cuts in my quads, even my calves and side quads are looking good Makes me happy.
    I feel lean and mean...lol

Today's training is Supersets of Legs.
No Cardio...after this session I decided I worked them to Fatigue and beaten them up Good!
...even though a good cardio session would be good for heart and blood flow....I thought I'd save it for an extreme one tomorrow.

    LEGS

How very exciting that you will be working on the show back stage. You will have SO MUCH fun!! It's a great way to stay motivated and be involved in the sport you love! Awesome. Can't wait to see what you will wear for the night show!!
    Hi AnneMarie!
Yeah, I don't eat much fat...It comes from a past fear of being overwieght, when I used to eat too much fat.
The fear is still with me. *sigh*

I am sooo excited to be working the show back stage....and not only day/night of show, but I need to be there on Friday, day before, to help get things together and in order.

I think I have an outfit in mind...but I don't know if I should wear skinny pants, or a short skirt.
    What do you think?

I am happy to be involved in the show, even though I can not compete, I support the comeptitors 100%!

I don't know exactly how to put into words..but WOW!, YES!, THANK YOU GOD! AMAZING!

I have a brand new feeling.

    A feeling of VIBRANCE!

I know it has only been a week with out the aid of:
    Supplements (and it's ingredients)
and a week without Caffeine (Pills, and Caffinated Coffee)

I feel Awake, Happy, and new kind of Energy...Energy of Just Being Myself...Unstimulated.

I guess I can admit that I was Overdoesing on the supps and caffeine.
I thought the more I took the better the 'rush', and more supps I take, the bigger the muscles.
But here I was Over Stimulating Myself on products.

I thought that the 'Rush' from the ingredients of the supps and the Rush of the caffeine was a good thing.
I thought it made me 'strong', with energy to push thru the workouts.
And the caffeine to help push me thru a day at my job.

But now that I have gone off both supps (all 3 types) and caffeine (pills and caffinated coffee) I can now tell that they are just stimulants, which gave me a false strength, and false rush.

I feel different. Vibrant, as I mentioned above.
Before (and I didn't realize this) I noticed I would get grumpy/edgy, more tired after coming down from the 'rush'.
I would think they were making my workouts better, stronger, more endurance...because of the Stimulating effect it gave me.

Now after being off of them...I am still strong in my lifting, I feel happier, stronger, leaner, and I can stay awake at work on my own.

These pills (for me) are just fake feelings.

I NOW KNOW that I, All By Myself, can feel Happy, Energenic, Powerful, and have Endurance without them!
I can be strong, build muscle, be lean, with out them!

    AND FEEL TONS BETTER!!

I Can and Will be a bodybuilder with out the Stimulants.
I Can and Will be Natural and feel happy, be strong, build muscle On My Own!

I am not saying I won't have a tired day, or a stressful day. Cuz we all do.
I am saying that if and when I have a 'bad' day it won't be caused by: supps, caffeine, alcohol, or tobacco.

I thank God for my sister, who only said a few words, but changed my life...I believe God spoke thru her to me. ..and I listened!

I certainly hope I didn't sound too overboard with my feelings...I am just feeling really good about myself, and I have confidence I can still achieve my goal.

    G'day Ya'll.

How mature of you to be able to admit when something didn't work. It happens. This sport is about continually trying, evaluating, trying again, re-evaluating, etc... to find the right fit. And, sometimes sadly, often when we find that right way, it doesn't work forever. Also, being on this site in general is to be surrounded with a supplement culture which tries to make us think we need them, but I've never bought into it myself. We don't need them. It becomes a fine line to crossing over to too much, not natural.

Ok, I'll get off my soap box now

Very powerful words indeed Joan. Your body will be thank you in many ways now that it is clean and free of all of these false stimulants. If only everyone saw the light like you did. It's an industry that survives on fear that if you don't take this or that you'll never achieve your goals. Magazines are full of the ads to prove it. My husbands bodybuilding magazines consist of these ads. I bet 50% of the pages are filled with supps.

    Thank your sister from us.

Your words are true for me and others.

The bodybuilding industry survives on supplement sales and marketing so it IS a necessity to over hype these products but that doesnt mean you cannot go without.

It was so great to come in here and see that you are feeling good. As you know, I have also stopped all PreWO supplements and while I still have 1 or 2 (max) coffees per day, I am feeling so much better. I actually feel more energised, especially after working out and while I don't have that extra stimulating "push" I sometimes got while training, I have found that my concentration is better, therefore my form and ROM is much much better!

Are you drinking decaf coffee now? Do you drink tea at all? I love tea - all kinds, black, green and herb.

How is the change of diet going? Have you increased your carbs and decreased your protein? Are you including any good fats?

    Hi Sheri,

Thank you...feeling good feels so good

Yes that's the feeling I have, more energised without the induced stimulation.
And I also find my self Pushing Harder with the weights, knowing it is All Me, nothing else helping.

Yes I am drinking decaf coffee now.
I should try tea...yes, thank you ..next time I go to the store I shall take a look and see what I may like.

My diet is good, I have added a bit more complex carbs, lowered protein, and enjoying almonds.
    Lots of VEGGIES too!

I thank God for my sister, who only said a few words, but changed my life...I believe God spoke thru her to me. ..and I listened!

Like Sherdi says, try tea. I love green tea with pomegranate!

We also sell Yogi tea across here in the UK and my two favourites are licquorice and Cinnamon.
Your body is a temple, but only if you treat it as one!

    Foods are good too..Yum!
Today I am doing a bit of a higher carb day...bigger sweet potatos, extra oats in second meal.

I am feeling really good after this workout...I love training back...and I totally fatigued every part!

I am keeping hopeful and positive that I can build lean beautiful muscle with my new un-supplemented way.
I will take progress pics in a couple weeks....I think that may be a good time to see whether or not I am still building and not loosing.
    Positive Thoughts!!!

Have a Blessed, Happy, Strong, Healthy Day!

I know that I've mentioned it before but your positivity in the face of adversity is inspiring. Hopefully it's contagious. In any case, I think I should come visit your journal more often
