how long can you keep whey protein in water?

If i make my protein shake around 8am, and leave it in my lunch bag till around 1:30 and drink it, is that to long of a wait?

Why not just add water when you get ready to drink it?

I wouldn't do that, and if you've ever smelled a shaker bottle that you forgot to clean out for a few days, you'll understand why.

    Simple solution:
    1 bottle of water
    1 shaker with dry powder

    Mix when ready

depends on the weather too i'd say. if its winter time it should last pretty long, but if its a hot summer day, better drink it within an hr or two. It spoils just like regular milk when you don't put it in the fridge.

I usually put it in the fridge at work if I have to mix it from home in the mornin, or if not possible, I'd add some ice to the container just to keep it cool for a while.

Well the longest I let it sit in my shaker bottle is 2 hours.

I work and go to school all day, so I always use my shaker bottle

but I learned something today! i should chill my water/whey OR just add cold water to it so it wont spoil as quick

Its probably not the best way to mix your protein but I do the same. I don't have many options while at work.
