    Does Weightlifting Make You Grow Taller?

    When I started weightlifting I was 5'10 at 16 and now I'm 6'2 at 19. I know there's a myth that bodybuilding stunts your growth that has been dispelled many times. But I looked into this and some source are saying that an intense gym workout with weights can increase the body's productions of HGH(Human Growth Hormone) which makes you grow taller.

    I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same thing?

    meh some people even grow into their late twenties, you cant really have a study on it. like saying cigarette smokers stunt their growth? i do not really believe that, however i do believe they stunt the growth of their inner organs.(should be a fact.. only thing that grows too much is the hearth muscle)

    when you are only 19 you might even grow taller.

    Spinal decompression. That's why you're taller in the morning than at night. If you stop squatting for a couple days or week, your spine will naturally decompress and you'll notice that you're taller. Try measuring yourself in the morning.

    Yes you can have a study on it. You just take an average, and assume that weightlifters have the same probability of growing into their late twenties as non-weightlifters.

    Grew an Inch

    I was an even 6 ft from age 18-28. Didn't do much besides walk around, drink, & sm(t)oke. At age 29 I quit fooling around, started eating more, and trained with a guy who was just starting a CF box. In 3 months I put on 20lbs, and grew vertically a straight inch.

    It can happen to some people. I was apparently retarding growth by under eating and partying. Once I got real I became a man.

    No. The exercise and muscle gain has probably just helped your posture, which can add up to around about an inch.
