At a rough point in my life at the moment and thinking about military. I'll be 22 in October.
Are the compensations/incentives/benefits the same all across the board? (Navy/Air Force/army/marines) or do they differ from one to the next?
Im in an area where cost of living is very low and I was starting a career at a place that would be making 25/hr w/yearly $4,000 profit sharing checks and a lot of other incentives and **** but a brown noser who had a personal agenda against me framed me for something I didn't do and got me fired.
Now I'm working a dead end factory job making $11/hr living with my grandparents roasting in a little bit of debt. (Not too much, like $1500 or so)
Wanted to get into real estate via buy&hold strategy and using low down payment methods (<5%). I'd still be going that route after my 4ish years in the military. (Hypothetically)
I don't have any interest in college.
Talk to me MISC. I love traveling (as do most). I don't mind being away from family and friends.

Base pay was the same across the service when I was in. You can get more for special assignments like airborne pay etc.
Bonuses are based on the specific job, length of enlistment and needs of the military.
I would go to college after or during but if you really don't want to then try to get a job that is at least somewhat transferrable to the civilian sector.
I was Army. I suggest you go Air Force or Navy.

But he complained about his job atm. As NG you'd also have to have a job still.
OP I've been Army (active duty) since January. If I had known what I've known now. I would have gone Air Force. Same benefits but you have a much better quality of life and it's a compete different mindset. You're a killer in the army. You're a soldier first and you get treated poorly being lower enlisted compared to other branches. My buddy who is in the Air Force, is completely surprised to hear about the stuff I go through compared to what he experienced.
I don't regret being in one bit, but knowing someone is getting the same pay grade and benefits, but has better quality of living and treated better. I would have picked that branch.
Really depends on what you want to do. Air Force has more desk jobs.190lbs Comp lifts: 420/350/600 USAPL

My point on that one post was soley in reference to benefits towards college. I was previously Army and also NG (11B), my wife was Air Force. No doubt she had it nicer then me being stationed in Hawaii. If you see my second post, I said picked the type of job first then compare branches.

Still doing better then most people. Your comparing apples to oranges. I'm not saying it's the best or only option but saying it stupid is just, well, stupid. I don't plan on staying in for 20 years but I can see why people would.
Your complaining about **** that's all easy to write off mentally.190lbs Comp lifts: 420/350/600 USAPL

Dunno mane. I follow a miscer on IG and snapchat who is a Navy lifer and she is living the damn life. Stationed in Hawaii now and always posting pics in the ocean or on some crazy scenic hike. Even when she was in Georgia she was living the life. Follow her lead, join the military and stay single... profit?

Yeah maybe make 6 figs if you are like an O-5 with 25 years of experience. 20 years as enlisted OP will probably be making 50k/yr if hes lucky.

It really depends on what you want to do.
If you like walking around outside and sleeping in dirt, the Army and Marines.
For me, I didnt want to do that so i joined the Navy. Get a job guarantee as well so you wont have to figure it out once you get there.
The airforce is good too. i was in naval aviation so we would work from a naval air station and when the carrier went out, we would take the planes on board and go with the ship.
The guys stationed on the ship live there all the time which would suck."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Marines then Cop Job
A couple things about the marines that I heard from buddys/online
"Marines are like pitbulls, They beat us, mistreat us and every once in awhile, they let us out to attack someone." (Generation Kill)
"The best worst 4 years of your life" (Buddy who is a former Marine)
"Glad I didn't go to college, I love it" (2 Buddy's currently in the Marines)Every man at some point in his life is gonna lose a battle. He’s gonna fight and he’s gonna lose. But what makes him a man, is that in the midst of that battle he does not lose himself.
