Is arm wrestling a good test of strength?

Do you think arm wrestling is a good test of strength? A lot of times when I arm wrestle, the other guy says, you are very weak, it took no strength at all to beat you.

yeah it's not a good way to test strength, i guess statistically the stronger person normally wins but that doesn't mean anything.. especially since most kids don't arm wrestle right.

I think if you have the superior grip strength as most teens don't really work it(the average people that just lift for looks..ripped) and its ignored so if you have far superior grip you can easily squeeze which would cause discomfort and you can have more control.

Is it really a test of strength? Not Really.

Strength as in: The better you are at arm wrestling, the more you should be able to bench or curl? No

However, decent test of functional muscle and functional strength in my opinion. I have a few friends who used to do judo/wrestling/BJJ, but have long since stopped and don't look like much without a shirt on nowadays. I can easily bench double what they can, but they can easily beat me in arm wrestling. Easy like, beating a 5 yr old.

a big part of winning at arm wrestling is technique...

arm wrestling is dependont on bicep, forearm, wrist, tricep, lat, shoulder strength

On top of all the points above I also think having longer arms gives you a longer lever to work with and therefore an advantage. I could be wrong though.

this. its not as much strength as it is technique. if you know how to place your legs, hands, elbows, etc, you greatly increase your chance of being a good arm wrestler.

Arm wrestling is a good test of arm wrestling experience and technique.

You can have much higher lifts than someone and still get destroyed in an arm wrestling match if they know what they're doing and you don't. This is why I don't arm wrestle

i say it is. im smaller than most of my friends and beat all of them. they may be able to lift more but thats a diff type of strength. pushups pullups best strength gainers.

personaly i do not think its a good test of strength at all.
i used to arm wrestle alot growing up. its not just about strength, its technique and form. if you watch pro arm wrestling competitions you can see that they use everything from there shoulder, bicep, forarm and wrist. grip is all on the individuals comfort.
