Squats
405x3
495x1
545x1
A. Bench Press
275x3
315x1 - paused
345x1 - paused
365x1 - paused
315x3 - all paused
B. Pull-ups
BWTx5
50x1
80x1
100x.75 - Can't count that with a good conscience lol
50x3
Amazing day. Two PRs is sweet (never have paused 365).
Things are going well. Considering taking it super easy on Thursday and making a 600/605 deadlift attempt on Saturday. Not sure yet. Having my gyms lifts adding up to 1510/1515 would be a massive confidence booster going into the meet, but I don't want to do something stupid.

Sick lifting as of late. Although my using wraps muddies the waters a bit, it looks like we are still neck and neck in bodyweight and lifts. It's always inspiring to watch your log.

I think you should decide.
I've been keeping up with your log intermittently for the last few months, but you tell me if this is a correct summary of your experiences:
You were doing your own thing for a while, and it worked great. I could never do your split (isn't it basically Squat/Bench/Dead 3 times a week?), but it worked well for you.
Then you started doing programmed lifting and it seemed like it just wasn't working for you.
You switched back to your own training, and are now smashing PRs.
It seems like your own methods are what has worked best. If this is correct, then continue with them!637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.
600/370/600 - best competition lifts.

It's pretty simple, this is basically all I am doing right now:
Sunday-
Monday- Squat/Bench/Pull-ups + accessories
Tuesday- Kettlebell Swings + biceps
Wednesday-
Thursday- Squat/Bench/Pull-ups + accessories
Friday-
Saturday- Deadlift/Press + accessories
You are probably right about me knowing what's best, it seems when I just listen to my body and work my butt off good things happen.
I think my main problem with "actual programs" is it takes a lot of the fun out of it for me, and I don't necessarily progress as fast as I am supposed to, or I use a number for a max that isn't feasible.
Plus most programs have me working with goofy weights like 320 or 415 or something like that (based on exact percentages), when I prefer just taking a "clean" weight and cranking out reps until I can't. I typically won't even touch a 10 lb weight until I start getting <5RM, even then I don't like it. Probably some major OCD issue lol. I also don't like picking attempts that end in .5kg. I like 200kg, 235kg, 250kg, etc. WEIRD
As long as I can actually peak well and put together a great meet this go round, I am going to keep training like this.Last edited by BombDonald; 01-23-2012 at 11:29 AM.

In that case, I'd go for the 600 if that's what you're feeling capable of.
I agree about training programs. I think they are fantastic and perhaps even necessary for 99% of beginners, but many good lifters have equally good results just playing it by ear, or using training methodologies that involve a lot of playing it by ear.637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

Nice squat... Looked not too much of a grind. How far is the meet away now?
I liked the setup on the 2nd rep. Looked grooved. You were unracked and I thought you were still setting up.
Do you flare your elbows or tuck? They look flared.******Misc Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu crew******

Hmm, maybe I'll dangle a kettlelbell from my dick tomorrow..
Contradicting statements? DON'T CONFUSE ME!
~2.5 weeks out.
I agree about the squat. Actually had no idea if I got it until I watched the video. It seemed to pop up fairly easily.
Bench actually felt super good today, which is rare. I love the new set-up.
Never really think about elbow positioning too much, I just stay tight. Might be something I should be thinking about more though.

Me too. Got my attempts figured out for the most part already. It's a strange feeling seeing that 1500+ is more than realistic right now.
Lol. I don't see it as arrogance, but fact. Really considering 507-540-562 at this point.
We'll see about that though, it depends how things go for the next few workouts. I plan on squatting 545x1 again next week, so as long as the speed is decent, things should be setting me up for 562.
Lovin your sig dude.
