Anybody here walks at a fast speed as cardio exercise?
Hello all, lots of people claim that walking is not exercising. But i think that they are referring to walking at a normal speed like when you are walking in a grocery store, but i think that walking at a fast speed is a cardiovascular aerobic exercise and i think it burns a lot of calories. I think that 1 hour of non-stop fast-walking burns about 500 calories

It's quite possible to walk as cardio. Walk fast enough, and it becomes harder to keep walking than to break into a run. A brisk 5mph or faster walk for an hour will burn significant calories. But the point is, you have to pant and sweat. Strolling along the treadmill while watching Oz Aerobics, or checking out the shoe prices in the windows, does not count as serious cardio.
65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

Eileen: hello, indeed, thats why i feel real exhausted after my 50 minute walk in the afternoons, because i try to do it at a fast speed, like sort of desperate walking swinging my arms, not the speed of walking in a shopping mall or in a grocery store.

I do it. I make sure my heart rate stays around 60-65% with my heart rate watch to maximize fat burning. But I also will go all out running once a week for my heart.

If you are walking as cardio, walk fast. This thing about the fat burning zone is a mathematical fallacy. Yes, at 60% intensity, a higher proportion of the calories you burn are fat. But you burn very few calories. At 85-90% intensity, you burn far more calories, including more fat calories. For instance, a 200lb person who walks moderately for an hour would burn around 400 cals, with perhaps 240 (60%) from fat. If you ran for the same time, you'd burn 1200 cals with 480 calories (40%) from fat. Plus if you run for an hour, you'll continue to burn extra calories for a while after you stop.

Eileen: Well but if people follow a strict keto diet without cheat-meals, without junk food, and with hard weight training like 12 sets for large muscles and 8 sets for smaller muscles they can lose fat even with walking. I also love bicycling. I have a stationary bicycle here at home, and i do about 20 minutes of stationary bicycle a day, and another 50 minutes of fast walking. That's about 70 minutes of aerobic exercise. And i do it 6 days a week

If you are lifting hard, the lifting is cardio. If you like walking or cycling great. I walk miles and I cycle for transport. My point is that if you are doing it to burn fat, then work hard. Keeping the intensity low for the sake of staying in the "fat burning zone" is a waste of time.

A fast walk for a fit human is around 7.2kph, which is close enough to 5mph. An expert should be able to do at least 8kph. And the world record is 5000m in 18 minutes, 7 seconds.
My own brisk walk is about 4.5 miles per hour, and I would walk faster if I'm late, or for cardio.
