    Calcium/Vitamin D?

    Hello Ladies..

I haven't posted in awhile, however, to give you a background, I have been working out for 10+ years. I have low body fat, train four days a week which includes weight training and cardio. Two months ago, while running, I fractured my hip. Initially I was misdiganosed and three weeks later it was detected and I was sent for emergency hip surgery (four weeks ago today). Three screws were put in my hip. I was not an avid runner, and had just recently taken on the sport, however always particpated in cardio reguarly. My mentrustal cycle has always been irregular and my ortho believes that I may have some underlying conditions due to my low body fat/high training practices. Once I am healed, I will be referred for further testing.
I was curious if any other ladies here have any experience or knowledge with this and if there are any supplements I should take for precautions? I am assuming a good Calcium/Vitamin D would be beneficial. I am taking a Multi, however, not currently the others.

    Thanks..
I may post this in another forum as well.

Yeah, if I were you, I'd definitely supplement my diet with calcium and vitamin D to prevent - or slow down the progression of - osteoporosis. Even without a history of fractures, I believe every woman should take calcium and vitamin D for her bones. As a general rule, 1500mg elemental calcium - divided into 3 doses - plus 400-800 units of vitamin D daily would be helpful.
