Not sure if this has been mentioned already, and I'm not sure of how it works on that side of the world, but if you have a fairly clean record they usually give you court supervision here. Which means if you pay your fine and complete your community service on time and avoid new arrests they expunge the charge from your record after a certain amount of time.

I think someone already said it but its not actually theft till you leave the store with the item. They cant do a thing till then. Should have just chucked the **** out of your pockets bro they couldnt have done a thing ... and you could have laughed as the *******s picked it up off the floor.

don't feel too bad about tainting your record for stealing some cheapass insoles man...
a couple of years ago i got really drunk with some friends and decided to give a police officer a fake name because i thought it was funny. turns out, its a class 2 misdemeanor and gets you arrested.
the name wasn't even funny or witty. and now its gonna cost me 750 bucks to get it expunged.
i even had to pay an extra $150 bucks for my security deposit on my new place because my record "isn't clean"... sh!t will bite you in the ass. don't get caught breakin the law brahIf you rep me because I make a good post, I will rep you back for using the rep system as it should be used.

It's not about it costing $8 dollars. You stole from them, it's policy to be prosecuted for such retardation, the jake is not on them, and your facepalm was fail. Do something that dumb, you deserve it - it's your fault getting into serious trouble over something so petty, not anyone elses.

If you're complaining about getting arrested for 8 bucks, how do you think walmart feels when they think, "this guy had to steal something worth 8 bucks?".
Id say you deserve it.
I dont want to be a hypocrite saying i never stole anything but i do it the smart way.
At least if you're gonna steal something small from walmart, carry the product with you pretending you're still shopping/walking around while opening up the package secretly, then putting the stuff in your pocket.
Who stands at the one area, then puts the stuff in their pockets? lol
Thats noob stealing right there.

I didnt read the whole thread but for those of you saying he should have ran read this:
I worked LP at a grocery store in Pittsburgh this summer. If someone runs, we chase them. It is a citizens arrest and we are allowed to use reasonable force to detain somebody. So if OP would have ran, they could have chased him down and tackled his ass to the pavement (srs).Pair Of Beers - The best beer pairings for whatever life throws your way.

Here's a concept I've been working on....
DON'T ****ING STEAL. If you forget your wallet, too ****ing bad. Walk your lazy ass home and get it. If you're a klepto, get help. If you just do it because it's fun and you can't be bothered paying for ****... **** YOU. Theft/loss is factored into product pricing, so thieving dickheads like yourself are costing all of us more money.
$8 and you end up with something on your record? Feel like an idiot? You should.Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.
