How long does Ezekiel bread last?

    Title says it all.

Bought this stuff because nutritionally it has a great profile. I learned you have to keep this stuff in the freezer to preserve it.

    Here are some questions:

I've heard EVEN IN THE FREEZER the bread only lasts about a week before it starts to mold up. Is that true at all?

I plan on using this for sandwiches for school when I go back in September. If I toast my Ezekiel bread when I make my lunch sandwiches in the morning, will they last a few hours at least until I can eat it at lunch? If I defrost?

I bought the sprouted grain fyi.

Funny you made this thread...I just had a whole package of Ezekiel burger buns go moldy on me literally days after I bought it. Bought a loaf of the Genesis bread today and threw it in the fridge, hopefully it'll keep longer than a week....

Keep this bread in your fridge...... This bread has NO preserves in it so it's going to get moldy fast. My grocer keeps it in their freezer aisle. They say bread goes stale if you put it in the fridge but Ezekiel is a must if you are going to eat it for a week+.

Mold can't grow in a freezer (I think the point is sub 40 degrees where you get effectively 0 mold growth). The quality will go down because it's in an environment that vacuums moisture, but it's still safe to eat.

^This. I had a loaf of it that went moldy in the fridge, but it had been in there a while. The loaf I have in the fridge now is going on 4 weeks and still mold free.

Awesome. I'm a little relieved. But are you supposed to keep it in the fridge or freezer?

Freeze it if you want to keep it longer than a week, otherwise fridge is fine.

Ezekiel bread gets moldy in the fridge quickly because its sprouted grain. Which means its alive. So its easy to carry bacteria. Which is why its supposed to stay in the freezer. That enables the grains to remain active which is why it works as well as it does for training. Its essentially a slow Carb.
