You should eat foods with nutritional value. You will gain weight with fast food and pizza, but you will gain more muscle with a good diet. Your diet today effects your body's functioning when your older. Some people who had bad diets when they were in their 20's end up having problems later in life even if they changed their diet. It's best to pratctice while you're young, that's what I'm doing, and bodybuilding is a great way to help keep me on track.

Haha, really? You know in the USMC my DI's used to say "if you aren't going to be smart, you better be strong", so you must be an ox, in more ways than one. That explains the short answer, not much content behind it, as well as the one behind the keyboard. First of all, lets look at the title of this post, it's talking about SUPPLEMENTS. Not food, nor did I say anything about food. Secondly, I never said I know everything about anything. I guess if I want to get ten times the gains, I should just take ten times the protein, right? Those people who take vitamin C like candy will never get sick. All these supplements, none are actually proven to build muscle. The fact is that two people getting adiquite nutrients, will get the same gains, even if one is on every supplement in the book. Supplements do have their place, but they aren't everything. Oh, and about the liver and kidneys comment, someone a whole lot smarter than you (a dr), actually more than one have told me that excessive supplements are harmful to the internal organs, in particular the liver and kidneys.

Let me appologize for the way my previous post came off, I was being rather rude. Rough morning that day. Let my clarify about something. When I said two people, on on supplements, the other not, with the same workout, will get the same gains with adiquite nutrition: It depends on the wrokout. The average guy at the gym, this is true, but that guy that trains to failure, and then keeps on training, supplements can really help. Pre-workout can help give you more umph to workout harder, intraworkout can help keep you going, and post workout can help with recovery, right? As we know it's that last set, that last rep, that last minutes of training that can make all the difference. Push to 110% because it forces your body to adapt, right? Supplements can make all that difference. However, if you don't push real hard, what's the point? What I'm saying is that more supplements isn't an excuse for less training. It also isn't an excuse for poor nutrition either, but that's a different topic. They are great if you use them, and that doesn't mean just injesting them.
Meatie sounds like someone who really uses them. Not the average guy at the gym no doubt. I have found when I go run/hike, a preworkout can really get me going, the intraworkout keeps me going, and the postworkout makes a big difference in my recovery time. Same with the upperbody but no, I don't lift heavy anymore. I did once, but getting big isn't my thing anymore. Kind of pointless in a way unless I want to be one of those short stocky guys. I however am training to become more lean, fast, and stronger, but being stocky is the last thing I want.Last edited by Jasonw1178; 01-02-2013 at 03:52 AM.
