    Protein Powder + Travel = ????

Ok - I am going to Dominican this Sunday and I really want to bring my PP with me. I don't need it in my carry on - just me checked luggage.

Does anyone know if this is allowed?

I've carried it on before actually. It's perfectly fine in your checked luggage.

I've been the lucky gal chosen to have all my dirty clothing gone through while traveling before. Have had things like protein powder and wine in my luggage and they didn't say anything (this was traveling back from Europe, though). I can't imagine it causing an issue. Check out the TSA's website for those kinds of guidelines. Maybe a good starting point: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/holiday.shtm

I usually take along the kind that comes in single serving packets rather than taking some of my bulk powder in a separate container or baggie. That way it's clear what I've got and doesn't raise any red flags. But I'm paranoid that way!

I've taken mine in checked and non checked baggage, in marked and unmarked containers with no problems. Like a PP said though, you probably won't use near what you think you will

I've traveled all over with my protein powders. Through the US, over 10 countries in Europe and a lot of Latin America. Last time I was in Latin America, I went with a 1kg pack of unsweetened whey protein (so, white stuff) and that was fine!! I usually take my tubs unopened if it's unflavored protein though. Chocolate whey tends to be a bit easier on the eye when they check your bag. I've emptied huge tubs of chocolate protein into sandwich bags before (so I don't have to carry the tub which is heavier) and that's OK too. You can definitely carry it on also, but try to just carry what you're going to eat while you're on the plane or whatever.

I just got back from a business trip and had taken my powder along with no issues.

Hey did you know that when you're going through the airport security they want you to take your peanut butter sandwich out of your bag? Just FYI. I thought it was crazy but their scanners can pick up peanut butter.

Thanks! I always thought it wasn't a good idea to travel with protein but now I will put it in my suitcase when I go to Ireland next month (:

I've been scared to bring white protein powder even vanilla flavored protein powder. Apart from that though I have bought chocolate flavored many times when i travel to the USA which is where I am at now!
